Inaccurate step count when rocking newborn to sleep

I’ve tried using my Fitbit again since i had my baby a month ago, however, i am noticing that the count is way off on my steps. My watch is counting the rocking movement as a step. I rock my baby for sleep throughout the day so you can imagine how high my step count is. Anyone have an idea on how i can fix this issue ? I want to continue using my watch but might have to stop since it just won’t be working for me fir a while.

Being worn on wrist, it detects steps from rhythmic motions of the arm like how the arm swings while walking.  The only way to prevent that while rocking baby would probably be to take it off during that time.  Maybe you could use that time to charge your tracker.

However, wearing it, even though step count going too high, would still get heart rate used for calorie burn and active minutes, which could still be useful even if steps not accurate.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I have the same issue. I really wish fitbit would do a sanity check, like detecting that I'm probably not doing 120 steps per minute with a heart rate of 60.
