I received my Fitbit Versa on Tuesday 6/19 and although it was working correctly the first few days, I have stared to notice a big discrepancy with the step counts. The other morning I woke up with 7,345 steps but .02 miles and I know this is impossible because I went to bed shortly before midnight when it resets. Either way that many steps would equal more than .02 of a mile.
I have done research and tried all the suggestions such as rebooting and restarting but the problem persists. I waited until midnight tonight so I could see it reset and within 2 minutes I had 490 steps and it just kept climbing although it was on the charger and not near any vibrations. I am now wearing it and the step count has increased to 1,294 although I have not gotten out of bed. Once again it displays that number of steps totaling a distance of 0.0 miles on both the watch and the app on my phone. I guess people are calling these ghost steps? Has anyone had any actual luck resolving this issue or maybe it just goes away?
I’m really upset because I love this watch otherwise, especially the sleep tracker which seems to be working fine. I’m wondering if I should send it back and exchange for another or is it possible this can be addressed and fixed with an update?

I am sorry to hear about the steps issue you are experiencing with your Versa and thanks for troubleshooting this by yourself. I recommend restarting the watch, see how many steps you have, walk 100 steps and let me know how many it registered.

I also received my new FitBit Versa on 6/28/18. Already I am having issues with the step counts. It has not been on the charger yet as I charged it fully upon receipt. Today it is showing I have walked 61,536 steps which is not accurate at all. I am more at 1000 so far for the day as I am at work. After I synch'd with my FitBit app is when I noticed the inaccurate numbers. Yesterday is showing 19,436. So whatever happened, occurred in the past 2 days as it was accurate up until that point. Given the price of the Versa, I hope there is a fix for this as steps is one of the main reasons I have this.

I restarted the versa which is only a few days old and I still have 45k steps after having it on the charger all night. This has happened for two days in a row! I keep getting emails about the badges I’m earning what the heck
