So I got my fitbit versa 2 and it's mostly great. I have a question about agenda though. When I go into the app, it appears with all my appointments. Is there any feature that allows pop-up notifications a la email, messenger? Or do you have to use the app on the watch to access it?

You have to use the Agenda app on your watch to see your events as there is no pop-up notification. See the steps below to do so:
Note that the Agenda app shows up to 40 total events over 2 days.
You must allow the Agenda app to access your calendar and run in the background. For more information about adjusting an app’s permissions, see How do I install and manage apps on my Fitbit device?
If your events don't appear, check the following settings:
