Internal GPS and connected GPS are inaccurate

Everything was working fine and the usual 3.2 mile run I would go on would always record as 3.2 miles on my versa lite (without connected GPS, since I don't always run with my phone - it would have calculated using my stride length and steps, I believe). For one run, I decided to bring my phone and use the connected GPS so that I could map the route as well. I ran farther than my usual 3.2 mile run, taking an additional side trail, and my connected GPS on my versa was at least off by .8 miles, if not the full mile - saying I went a shorter distance than I actually did. The next few runs I didn't use connected GPS or have my phone with me at all, and the internal GPS/calculation was also way off, by at least .5 miles. Ever since I used connected GPS once, all of my runs (without connected GPS) are off by .5 and anything with connected GPS is off by close to a full mile (hikes too).
I have not yet tried manually inputting my stride length, as I need to find an area/make an area with a known distance, but I don't understand why the internal calculation is now off ever since I connected GPS the first time.
Any ideas?

Ist @AmberMei the versa does not have an internal GPS, but uses your stride setting.

Have you calculated your stride and set it in the Fitbit app? It is not really enough to let Fitbit take a guess at the users stride.

Hi @Rich_Laue ,

Thanks for responding.

I know versa doesn't have internal GPS; sorry, my wording was confusing - I tried to clarify by saying that it calculated my distance by my estimated stride length and number of steps. I mentioned before that I have not yet manually set my stride length, but the thing is it used to work just fine. I would run 3.2 and it would calculate 3.2. Then I tried connected GPS, the number was way off. I ran again *without* connected GPS, letting it calculate through my stride length and steps and the number has been off since... It no longer reads 3.2, but 2.7 for the same run...
