Iphone app displays message "Failed to sync device"

I bought this yesterday. Versa is my first Fitbit product. I'm using an Iphone 7. 

While using the app it displays the message "Failed to sync device" 

It keeps trying to sync over and over.

I checkd the device status in settings > bluetooth which says it's connected

I don't have any other devices connected in blue tooth 

What am I missing?

I’ve been having this exact issue every since I updated my app! So wish I hadn’t done that!!

The app stll displays the same message, but It must have synced to the app at least once in the last 30 minutes because the number of steps taken in the app now matches the watch display.
