Is Fitibit app necessary to be installed on your mobile phone? Will it only then connect to GPS?

Hello All,

 

I bought a Versa 2 recently. My Lenovo mobile has Android 6.0 version. Hence it doesn't support the Fitibit App. I downloaded the Fitbit App on my iPad. 

 

I went for biking yesterday and just got the time I biked. No distance, no kilometres nothing. I had my mobile phone with me with the internet and GPS tracker on as I was using Google maps to reach a particular point. Versa 2 didn't connect to the GPS the whole time I biked. 

 

Today I went for a walk with a friend who has Versa 2. She walked less than me but her distance showed more than mine. Don't know why?

 

What did I do wrong? Do I need to change something in the settings?
