Is it safe to update my Versa

Hi all, I have a Versa which was a gift in 2018. I have never updated it unless it carries out updates automatically. I used to be able to change the clock face but now it won't allow this and the message  says this clock is not compatible with your Fitbit device. Does this mean my Versa is now too old to be able to install a new clock face? Would an update help or not? I see a lot of people have problems after updating. Basically I just use my Fitbit to count steps and monitor my heart beats. I just wanted a new clock face which incorporated a battery level icon so I could see straight away when it needed to be charged up. I have very basic needs for a Fitbit and it's not worth me buying a new model for the amount I use its functions. This one cost £170 new and I'd like to get more that 3 1/2 years use out of it.

All I know is this is the original Versa model and the Firmware version is 32.33.1.30. As you can tell I'm pretty ignorant about technical stuff so any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

My fitbit versa hasn't worked properly since I installed the latest update: first it incorrectly tracked my heart rate (doubled); then it stopped tracking my heart rate altogether; then the step count ceased to function... I have restarted numerous times and hard reset and no improvement. Since the last reset, it has failed to link with my fitbit app, so I can't even use it as a watch... My advice would be to ignore the update until a possible new one, which will hopefully have a patch to fix fitbit's last f*ck up! Good luck - I am now looking at Garmin, but really can't afford to replace *groans*.

I don't get messages about updates. My daughter set the Fitbit up for me at the time and it was mainly for health reasons and she kept it as simple as possible knowing my limitations. I hate to plead age as an excuse but sadly I do struggle with new technology now, whilst back in the 1960's when I first started work I was very able to deal with any new developments that came along. New clock faces are not that important to me - I don't believe I said that. I was just hoping to change mine to one with a battery indicator but no matter. I hope someone may be a little kinder to you in the future when you need help....and trust me you will.Sent from my Galaxy

Thank you for your advice and I'm so sorry to hear your problems following the updates. I won't be attempting them. I'm happy mine is still working at least and very grateful for the heads up. Good luck with any fixes that may come along.Sent from my Galaxy

I wouldn't update your watch. Fitbit won't support it if something goes wrong. You are taking a big risk.  If it isn't broken, don't update it. Bad support.

Don't update!!!!

I updated and now my battery dies in less than a day. About 12 hours to be exact.

I tried factory resetting and it won't allow me to reset. Very annoying. And the thing is less than 2 years old.
