Is it technically possible to connect Galaxy Buds to the fitbit Versa?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've seen a post in which another user drew the conclusion that because of the type of "low energy" blue tooth used by the Versa that the new Samsung Galaxy Buds will not pair. While this is the "accepted solution" to the issue, there was no response by the thread moderation or a fitbit representative. In my own experience my Versa can identify the wireless buds but will not connect, no matter what I've tried. I'd like a fitbit representative to address this issue or conclusively state that this connection cannot occur, if true, thus ending my continued trial and error. thanks.

After 6 months I'm receiving the same response from fitbitsupport. "Hello. We're sorry for the inconvenience and our engineering team is now working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience while we're working on this. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to assist you in the meantime." I doubt there will be a resolution for this issue.

Okay this is me taking a stab at it. I actually gained a case number....

Me:Is the a known issue pairing the Samsung Galaxy Earbuds with the Fitbit Versa2?
Me:Actually
Me:I can get them to pair by turning off the bluetooth on my phone first
Julio B:Let me help you with your Versa 2 questions
Julio B:you said Galaxy Earbuds
Me:but....music isnt playing through them from the Pandora app
Julio B:right >
Me:yes
Me:they pair
Me:but dont't play music
Me:when using Pandora app
Julio B:OK I understand, let me check your information

I check the information and I see the Galaxy Earbuds is not listed as compatible devices
Me:ok
Julio B:You might be able to use your device with Fitbit but some features might not work fine
Me:Is there a list of earbuds that are
Me:for instance
Me:will the new alexa earbuds be compatible?
Julio B:yes you can check models available at www.fitbit.com
Julio B:https://www.fitbit.com/devices
Julio B:and check what models are compatible with Fitbit
Me:ok i will bookmark that
Me:thanks
Julio B:no problem, is there any other question you have ?
Me:yes
Me:when will Samsung Note 10+ be added to the list?
Me:all the other Notes are compatible
Julio B:Yes I see that and well I don't have that answer, all I know is that out team every some update on the Fitbit app test the newer devices to provide compatibility
Julio B:But I don't have a direct answer about when this will be added
Me:this device list you gave
Me:it only shows phones/tablets
Me:it doesnt show earbuds and all the other stuff
Me:just phones

what you see listed is what we have as compatible device
Julio B:however a non compatible device might also work , just some features might not work
Me:soooo no ear buds at all
Me:can you please tell them to test the ear buds
Me:I mean come on ....they claim to play music...you need wireless earbuds
Me:it shouldn't be a guessing game of buying different ones until you find what works
Me:they are expensive!
Me:I would like to at least submit that as a request
Me:suggestion
Me:whatever
Julio B:OK one moment please
Julio B:OK this is your case number we place the suggestion regarding to fully tested devices
Julio B:case 32684941
Me:Thank you
Me:Appreciate it
Julio B:No problem, thank you for contacting our support team

It's crazy that I've never been told this by any fitbit representative. Any update on your case? Btw, I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 now. I'm tired of fitbit, and their unresponsive customer support.

The won't work. I got them to connect but nothing plays so they definitely won't work.

I am too in lieu of this issue with 5 pairs of earbuds I've tried. With my Ionic, the Gear Icon 2018 and these would connect but play sped up music. Do a search around. Fitbit has been spewing the same garbage about other earbuds that don't work or have limited features (see: airpods with volume control issues) for 2+ years. The best thing to happen to them is getting bought by Google. It's a **ahem** company on its own. I can't believe this isn't a bigger deal. I guess music isn't important to most users.

Did you get the Galaxy watch active 2? How is it? My main concerns to switching over are sleep, battery, and HR accuracy (in that order). It has waaayyy more features than any Fitbit.

I already had a Samsung Fit 2 Pro (I think it is). The Galaxy ear buds work, of course.  It's all Samsung....has to.

My galaxy buds work perfectly with all Samsung products as you can imagine. As so.wone started previously the only  way I have been able to get music to play from my Fitbit  ionic is to pair and connect only one ear bud. Music plays clearly. No issues.  However once you pair and connect the second earbud that's when you will hear garbled robotic noise more than anything. I have come accustomed to using just one ear bud, but I will admit it is obnoxious that I can't use both when I want to.

I know how to do it first you take one earbud out and pair it and leave the other closed in the case after the one pairs they will sound weird after you take take the one out but to fix this you take one out of your ear put it in the case and close it and the sound will stop then take it out and do the same with the other and tah-dah if this works subscribe to me on youtube at Devlin Woolsey with a pic of a grey cat she passed away

Had similar issue pairing Galaxy Bud to Versa 2. Connects but no sound.

Was just told from customer service on phone that Galaxy Buds are not compatible with Versa 2, and they recommended Fitbit flyer. Ridiculous given a major point of Versa 2 is listening to music, and requires wireless headset.

After lots of frustration, I tried the one earpiece method mentioned above. (In my case, I connected both, put right back in case, closed it, and the music started in left earpiece.) The music was horribly garbled at first, distorted, speeding up and slowing down, odd pauses.

Opened and closed the earpiece charging station (with earpiece in it) a few times and then the music started working perfectly. Been listening to ~5 songs so far without problem. Not sure how long the fix will last.

Very frustrating, but does seem to work for now. (I've got ~80 days left to decide whether it's worth the hassle to return everything, and will do so if becomes a pain to work with.)

I'll try to keep updated if I'm able to keep it working.

P.S. - Before the sound was coming through the earpieces, the music controls on Versa 2 were also non-functional. There was a weird delay when hitting play, and often it would play but without the "pause" symbol showing. The volume controls were non-functional (albeit no sound coming through earpieces). Now that I did the one-earpiece secret handshake trick above, everything's working perfectly! My guess is there's some hidden incompatability in how the earpieces are connecting to the Versa computational internals, but not a computer scientist so just guessing. But really, this shouldn't be such a hassle for their engineers to figure out.

That means they didn't update their technology for Versa 2.  Their solution is to push their wireless earbuds with mediocre reviews in a world of true wireless earbuds. Fitbit is pathetic. The best thing to happen to them was being bought by Google. I'm looking forward to my Ionic dying so I can get a real fitness watch with up-to-date tech.

On a brighter note, I snagged the Jaybird Run XT last week for $99 at BB. Despite mixed reviews regarding connectivity, I have had none with my Ionic nor my phone. Sound is decent, and fully customizable. To any versa/Ionic users out there, look into the Jaybirds. Don't waste your time with these stupid open and close fixes with the Galaxy Buds.

I've been able to replicate this work-around three times now, but still trying to find the most efficient workflow.

Update here is that the "garbled" sound coming out of the headsets seems to be that they are independently connected. So keeping one bud in ear, the second in case, and then connecting allows the one bud to pair.If the second connects, it's off by a split second, making the sound garbled. If put back in case and open charging case lid a few times, it seems to sync correctly. Once connected, I can listen for hours without any problems, and all Versa wrist controls work fine.

So it seems the technical issue has to do with both a pairing (between both ear pieces) rather than an overall connectivity issue. Good news, if any one at Fitbit is reading this, is that the Galaxy earbuds CAN work with the Versa 2. The engineers just have to figure out how to make it happen as first connection.

By the way, if using the Galaxy earbuds to sync through Versa 2 to a phone (music source), they pair perfectly fine. My wife has the same model ear buds and Versa 2, and they play music through her Iphone without any issue at all.

But if need a phone to use the Versa 2, seems to defeat the purpose of why the Versa 2 exists at all.

Did you ever get any sound from your war buds?  I am connected but no sound.

I've been able to get my Galaxy Buds to work fine using the various one-bud and keep opening/shutting case with second bud in it trick others have note here and in other posts. I'm trying to find the easiest way to replicate this, and will post once I figure it out.

Short answer: it can work, but it's a pain (and totally unintuitive).
