Is it technically possible to connect Galaxy Buds to the fitbit Versa?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've seen a post in which another user drew the conclusion that because of the type of "low energy" blue tooth used by the Versa that the new Samsung Galaxy Buds will not pair. While this is the "accepted solution" to the issue, there was no response by the thread moderation or a fitbit representative. In my own experience my Versa can identify the wireless buds but will not connect, no matter what I've tried. I'd like a fitbit representative to address this issue or conclusively state that this connection cannot occur, if true, thus ending my continued trial and error. thanks.

After 6 months I'm receiving the same response from fitbitsupport. "Hello. We're sorry for the inconvenience and our engineering team is now working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience while we're working on this. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to assist you in the meantime." I doubt there will be a resolution for this issue.

My solution is basically the same. So far it has worked perfectly ~20 times, and never drops out after working. In my case, I'm using a Versa 2 that I downloaded a music playlist to form iTunes on a Windows 7 laptop (using the FitBit app and a physical USB connection). The steps also work with my wife's Versa 2 with music downloaded from her Mac.) For reasons that escape me, if using the Versa 2 to listen to music sourced from a smartphone, the following steps aren't necessary; the Galaxy Buds seem to pair and sync just fine.)

You have to have the music downloaded before doing the following steps.

1. Turn off Bluetooth on any other device the Galaxy Bud (GB) was paired to (or remove the GB device from other devices).

2. In Versa 2, scroll to Settings > Bluetooth and add the GBs (add audio device, open case, and choose to pair the GBs).Close the GB case once paired. (You only need to do this the first time.)

3. Scroll to Versa 2 music app on watch, and (a) change the Source to the watch and (b) choose the GBs to pair. Open the GB case with the GBs in the case, and wait until pairs. (You can also do this step by opening the bottom-left ... symbol on the Music Controls page.)

4. Put one GB bud in your ear (it doesn't matter which one) and start playing music from your playlist. (Keep the other bud in the case.) You won't hear anything yet, but make sure the sliding status bar at bottom is showing the music is playing. (The > play symbol may turn to || pause, but may not.)

5. Close the GB case for a second and then re-open. You should now hear music. But it may sound garbled, with odd pauses or playing too slow/fast.

6. Keeping the GB case open, put the second bud in your other ear. You may hear music in it, or not. If so, it will sound out of sync with the first pair.

7. Put the first bud back in the case (keeping the second in your ear). Close the case for a second and re-open.

8. If the buds still aren't playing properly, repeat steps 5-7 with each bud separately, putting one in the case, closing and re-opening, then doing the same with the alternate bud.

9. Both buds should now be properly synced to each other and play just fine from now on out. You'll also notice the watch controls for play/pause and volume +/- will work correctly now.

If you lose the pairing, you'll need to repeat steps 3-9 to re-pair and sync each bud with the watch.

Once you do it a few times, it's not too annoying.

Please give it a try and reply if you find anything I've missed.

I don't know why you guys would want to go through this. I got jaybird run xts, and they've worked perfectly thus far with my Ionic. Buy another watch or another set of earbuds. They still haven't fixed this 2 years later. That should tell you something.

The only positive is Google bought Fitbit.

How exactly did you get them to start playing music? I got both my buds and my versa 2 literally 2 days ago and they're both fully charged. However, I still can't get them to play music. It's really frustrating.

Unfortunately it's a pain but possible. If you take one bud out and have
them paired then close and reopen the bud case the music should work. I use
one bud just because it's easiest,
but if you repeat these steps you can use both buds without there being any
issues.

I follow the instructions the guy posted above me. Pair one at a time. It
worked but Ive only used them a few times.

Thanks a bunch @Mom2ktaw! It actually worked! The sound quality is BAD though. @Fitbit please fix this issue soon.

If you do it a few times using both buds it should clear up. That's why I
use only one bud. Sound is fine and less work. I do wish it would get
resolved as it wasn't a problem when I first got my buds in almost a year
ago AND I used them every single day with my versa before this ionic.

I've gotten it to work every time I've tried using the method at https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa-Smartwatches/Is-it-technically-possible-to-connect-Galaxy-Buds...

(The steps above are basically the same as others mentioned in this forum, just with more details.)

As a person recently noted, the sound quality is not as good on the Versa 2 as when listening from the phone or tablet. I'm guessing the file audio quality is downgraded when transferred to the phone. But it has fine sound quality, and I can hear everything in both ear buds.

Check the instructions by P3Nderen (08-31-2019 10:22) and me (12-16-2019 14:31) in this thread. Give it a try and let us know if it works for you.

Best of luck with it!

@Lisay2k the way you make them play sound is a process in itself but it works.

1. Open the case and sync both buds.

2. Put one galaxy bud in your ear and close the case.

3. Open the case and sound should come out of the earbud but it will sound garbled.

4. Put the second earbud in your ear, and put the first earbud back in the case

5. Close the case, reopen it again, and now when you put both earbuds in, the buds should sync with eachother just fine and sound quality should be great.

Let me know if this works for you! Sadly it's a pain but hopefully fitbit will fix this problem this year! Best wishes!

If you go into the app for your headphones on your phone you can change the
function of your headphones to adjust volume.

You were very helpful last wk. But another question the volume is very low only with Samsung buds, is there a way to increase volume.  I have it at max on watch

The Sumsung phone app allows more control on the audio settings, I hear. If you don't have a Samsung phone (like me), the app doesn't offer those features. (Again, this is secondhand - I haven't confirmed.)

I have experienced poorer audio sound quality on the Versa 2 compared to when listening on my phone/tablet. I'm assuming it's because the MPG files are further downgraded when transferred to Versa 2.

The only advice I can offer is to make sure the "Normalize Track Volume" is NOT checked in the Advanced Settings on the Manage My Music app used to transfer the music. (Advanced settings has a gear symbol on top-right of app.) When I originally checked this, normally loud tracks were really quiet (and quiet tracks didn't really get louder). Admittedly, I had some quiet classical music on my playlist with lots of louder jazz, alternative, and electronic music, so my experience may be unusual. But things worked better when I unchecked the volume normalization.

So I've been having those same problems myself and have been playing around with the controls. So what you need to know first is that the tap, double tap and triple tap features don't work with the watch. In other words, the single tap does not pause music, double tap does not skip tracks and triple tap does not go back to the previous previous track on the watch. What it does however is ruin sound quality. The solution I found for this

Was to sync the buds with my phone,

Lock the touchpads on the buds so that they dont do anything, and connect the buds because if you dont lock the touchpads, and you tap the touchpads, the sound decreases. When you lock the touchpads, and you sync bud 2, the sound should increase to such a measure that you will need to turn it down. I know this is a bit confusing, but let me know if you would like me to clarify anything, or if you get it to work. Best of luck!

So I finally managed to connect my Galaxy Buds to my Fitbit Versa 2, but I can't hear the music. One song started to play, but when I shuffled forward I lost sound. I've tried shuffling through multiple songs, as i saw someone else in here said it worked for them, but no luck for me. Frustrating to say the least!
