Is the Versa compatible with more Android phones?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've never owned a fitbit ever, but the Versa really caught my eye and I was ready to preorder until I read other people's experience with previous Fitibits and Android phones not in the compatibility list, which is missing a lot of phones new and old.

The people I planned on gifting the Versas too own LG G6, Asus Zenfone 3, LG Q6, and other phones not in the compatibility list which leans heavily to Samsung phones.

Does the Versa use the same system as the old Fitbits when it comes to the Android app or is it somewhat more forgiving now that Fitbit has bought Pebble.

Thank you very much.

The Versa is not syncing my data to my Huawei P20 lite. I suspect it's because it is not one of the registered devices. My device is also rooted but I think it's not that reason. It will sync perfectly with my old iPhone 5 but I think it's not compatible with my android OS.

@Pennepasta there's a specific issue with Huawei's "lite" phones due to their implementation of bluetooth. Fitbit say:

"Due to Bluetooth issues that prevent Huawei Lite models, including P8 and P9 Lite, from syncing with some devices, like Fitbit devices, our products are not compatible with these mobile phones."

Save your money and find a different fitness watch that is comparable with your phone. The versa has too many issues when sinking correctly with the Samsung Galaxy S9+. At least that has been my experience.

Kersten, beware thinking its just the phone v's the app that's the problem. There's hundreds of users like me that upgraded from a older fitbit device that worked perfectly for a long time with the app and our phones,  the syncing issues only happened after I changed the linked device to versa.  Same phone, same app, different device.

Don't buy a versa for oneplus 5... Mine stopped working since i upgraded oneplus 5 to android pie.. before it worked flawlessly... I'am so pis***, mostly with OP... I'am using diferrent  fitbit since 2014.. suddenly not working anymore... unable to connect versa, bluetooth crashes  while connecting.. and i'am in sportsholidays without a working tracker 🤯  now i'll check out other fitness trackers... It's not like you leave me a choice...

I have had my ionic for almost a year and I am still waiting patiently for it to be compatible with my lg v30 phone. This phone is an elite phone. Should not have assumed it to be compatible. Will go with a matching watch next time.

Well I had a fitbit charger2 and was working perfectly with my Samsung Notebook2 until I upgraded my phone to a Samsung LG G6 and never work again. Sent an email to Fitbit and they told me that was not compatible yet and was not on the list of compatible phones, that was over one year ago that I was told that they was working on it. How long will take for the list to be update????

Hello @pashun, thanks for joining the conversation, it's great to welcome new members to the Fitbit Community. 🙂

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Please note that Fitbit devices are already compatible with the LG G6, as it's currently listed in our list of compatible devices. If you're having trouble syncing your Charge 2, please restart your phone and your tracker

Now, if the Charge 2 is still having trouble syncing, check the following steps:

  • Make sure the latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone.
  • The software on your mobile device is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process
  • Check that your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your phone again.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it one more time.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

Give these steps a try and if you need further assistance, please feel free to reply.

I agree with many of the comments on this forum. What annoyed me is that I didn't even realise there was a compatibility issue at all until I changed my phone. I went back to the box my fitbit Alta came in and there was nothing on it to indicate you should check compatibility with your phone. I have the required Android operating system.. but cannot get notifications. Very frustrating when I used to get them. At the moment I have a "step" counter. 🤨

Have been using Versa since last two months. Product is good for health tracking but does not synch notifications from Android phone. I have phone which has largest market share in India which are Redme phone's. Surprisingly Fitbit never highlights only few phone's are compatible. There is no roadmap showing coverage of more Android phones.

I I have a Fitbit HR. I decided to upgrade to a versa 2 and found out it will not sync to my phone because I refuse to pay $1,000 for a new phone. I have a Galaxy Note 4. I have used Fitbit since 2016. I will now be looking for another brand because Fitbit will not work  with my phone. I am very disappointed in Fitbit

They have published list of Android phones which are tested and verified. Please check that. Last time when went through that list it had mostly Samsung phone listed not many others Android ones.

Thanks

I couldn't agree more. Fitbit has fallen way short when it comes to doing
everything they have boasted about. So sad.
