Is the Versa waterproof?

I have seen other topics, however, they are more talking about the Ionic. I'd like to see if anyone has actually gone swimming or showered (doubt the latter) with the Versa on and how did it fair?

I can see with the Ionic the states aren't super accurate however I am not too worried about the stats. I am more wondering about the device itself. Any issues or complications with it post swim or during the swim. I have only had mine a couple of days and have yet to get the guts to sink it.

Hey all, I swam today for 30 mins with my Versa on... it worked and still worked. My only issue was trying to start tracking my swim and ending it as I have a screen protector. I then did learn on the spot, the buttons on the side pause and end the work outs! Fingers crossed all! It seems to be okay!

Thank you @scott.b and @S_Nash for your replies! As I won't get to swim until next week, I will bring mine into the shower for the time being to test its water resistance that way lol. If there are any issues I will need to find out rather sooner than later.

I have been swimming with mine almost every day for over an hour since 4/17 and taken every shower with it on. No problems.

I've been showering with mine since I got it (nearly a week ago) and no issues so far. You should be fine, if there's any problems, then that's a problem w/ the individual device. Their own support says water resistant to 50m. 🙂

Awesome! I was pretty sure that it was just a bad watch, but I wanted to ask if anyone else's had crapped out on them. I'm now waiting for my replacement from Amazon.

I see you said vacation.. at the beach? I'm going to destin Florida in a month.. wondering if salt water is ok

My versa did not withstand the water of my shower. I'm currently waiting on a replacement. If this one can't take a little water, I'm probably going to try something else.

I was in the pool at a resort. I’m not sure about salt water. I have been pretty lucky and am getting about 4 days battery life! I wouldn’t chance the ocean though!

@MrMold666 I just took a shower with it, aside from the splashing water causing some phantom touches on the sterns, everything seems to be working just fine. Will do a few more tests later on this weekend.

Hello all, hope you are doing fine.

Regarding this water inquiry, as mentioned in my previous post, the Versa is a water resistant watch, it isn't waterproof. You can swim or shower with it but after this it is necessary to dry it to avoid damage. You can check our Wear and Care page for better instructions for this.

Now if you are having issues with your Versa after showering or swimming with it, as suggested previously, place it in a bowl of rice for 24-48 hours, after that restart it.

See you later. Smiley Happy

Hi,

Not sure if anyone realizes this, but the "rice" trick is actually an age old myth and doesn't really work!

Still some confusion here with your posts I'm afraid...

The Wear and Care page you linked only mentions drying the Versa to avoid skin irritation, not damage to the watch itself:

"Even though Fitbit Flex 2, Ionic and Versa are water resistant up to 50 meters, it’s important to thoroughly dry your elastomer band and tracker and remove any debris from your device after wear in the water to avoid skin irritation. Please note that non-elastomer accessories should not be worn in water."

If problems occur after using the device as intended, surely this is a fault? Especially given the user was showering and not swimming?

I guess what I'm trying to say is either the watch can be worn while swimming and showering, or it can't. If problems occur due to using the product as intended, trying to dry it out for up to 48 hours isn't really a viable solution, because the product has failed its intended use?

@GenieFish I think the specified models in the link are water resistant, not water proof.

That being said, you can take it to shower and swim as long as it's not submerged over 50m deep. I took it to shower last night and after I finished, I took it off and dried it with a cloth and put it back on and was fine. If it isn't then something is wrong with the product, or they're not advertising it correctly.

I'm going to continue testing the water resistance feature while I still have a return period for my purchase and get back to you. And don't bother with the rice drying method because 1. That's only a myth, and 2. This isn't necessary for water resistance devices if it's truly water resistant.

@tofuuu630 Agreed! I think that showering (and even swimming) should be fine and if you have to resort to any "drying out" methods (effective or not), there is something wrong with the device.

I don't really go swimming (and would likely take my watch off if I did), but I have been showering with it on. I'm still within the return period too... So we'll see... Smiley Frustrated

@GenieFish the thing you should do whenever you purchase expensive electronics that has a return window is to test out all its features and capabilities the most and best you can. Since I have a 60 day window, I'm going to be testing out features that I normally do not use on a regular basis, which would be swimming. I normally do not swim on a regular basis, but I do not want to be diving into a pool months later only to find out my device is defective.

I did not verify, but I am guessing these watches are not designed for salt water pools.

Hello all, I hope you are doing great.

I just want to let you know that we have tested Versa in accordance with industry standards and as mentioned previously, it is water resistant up to 50 meters (5ATM/150 feet). If you need anything else, do not hesitate to post it.

Keep the stepping up. Smiley Happy

It’s not recommended to use it in the shower because of the steam. Steam can get places that liquid water can’t. The same is true for regular watches. And with swimming pools it’s the chemicals.

I thought it is ok to swim with it. There is a setting that will track your swimming pool laps on the Versa. Fitbit says you shouldn't shower or swim unless it's noted as water-resistant up to 50 meters.

@momnbaby You’re so right it makes no sense to say. The watch in question is the versa.

@AlejandraFitbit if you advise not to swim with it why is it in the advertising and why would there be an activity on the watch for swimming?  It’s not good to give customers mixed messages. In my mind water resistant means you can not submerge your object into water. Waterproof in my mind means you can. So water resistant up to 50 metres to me would mean waterproof up to 50 metres.   This dance on words is too much, it’s confusing, what customers want to know is if I go for a swim at my gym (clearly way less than 50 metres deep) then get in the shower with my, specifically, versa Fitbit on will it track my workout in the pool and will it still work after?  A contradictive answer doesn’t clear up thoughts. Also I know sometimes links help but sometimes one needs a clean cut answers

After fully reading this thread I’m fried 😅. Far as I’m concerned I never have and never will swim more than 50 meters deep, but I’d like to know I can shower with this watch and it will continue working. If after being in water way under 50 meters deep and drying it after causes my versa to die, a rice bowl remedy is not an option for me ever. The watch is faulty it doesn’t do what it says on the tin.

I still feel the play on words is not cool though.  Fitbit say what you mean and mean what you say. I don’t wanna be trying to work out what you mean

And on that note I’m going to shower with my versa watch today to put it to the test. Will let you know the outcome

so update! I showered with it and it still works phew 😅
