I have seen other topics, however, they are more talking about the Ionic. I'd like to see if anyone has actually gone swimming or showered (doubt the latter) with the Versa on and how did it fair?
I can see with the Ionic the states aren't super accurate however I am not too worried about the stats. I am more wondering about the device itself. Any issues or complications with it post swim or during the swim. I have only had mine a couple of days and have yet to get the guts to sink it.

I don't have a fitbit versa get but I am thinking of getting one. I already have the fitbit charge 2 which works great, but I wanted the fitbit versa because of the fact that it tracks swimming (and the scoreboard). I'm getting really different messages on how it does in the water. Is it worth it to spend the money on it? I don't want to get it if it can't do anything more than my current fitbit.

I just find this whole thread confusing. I have the Versa and swim with it 3 days a week and the watch is advertised as being swim proof. I've had zero problems tracking swims and the watch works perfectly for me. I can only conclude that the moderator was trying to draw a distinction between swim proof and water proof. Fitbit definitely needs to get the talking points straight on this.

I agree. There is no clear cut answer on this (although there should be) Some people are having issues when they swim, some aren't, which leads me to believe that the quality control on the Versa isn't where it needs to be yet and you basically have a 50/50 shot at it working correctly. I've been lucky so far as the only issue I've had is after swimming it does take some time to sync to the app, but I gotta admit I say little prayer each time I get in the water and I have my old charge 2 ready to go if necessary. Hopefully new versions will address this because it really is a nice fitness watch.

Hello @RoyalLockett and @DrCool, thanks for joining the conversation, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community.
@DrCool, please note that the Versa is swim-proof, so yes, you can use it while swimming and as mentioned earlier, according to the specifications of the Versa is "water-resistant" up to 50 meters.
@RoyalLockett, I appreciate you have shared your experience with me; tell me, when you mentioned the watch "is moving without me touching it" what does that mean exactly? Is the screen flicking? Are the apps opening by themselves? Having more information about the situation will help me determine which troubleshooting steps should we take next.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, I'll be waiting to hear from you.

If you don’t recommend swimming with it then why does the versa have a swim option under exercises??? This makes NO sense!

Just swam a few laps with my new Versa. Worked like a charm except I couldn't stop the swimming exercise recording afterwards until I took it off and dried it. No real problems, probably just that my cold wet hands didn't trigger the capacitive screen. It was fine as soon as I dried the watch and my hands. I don't know if it measured the pool properly because it was a curvy hotel swimming pool, slightly salty. Very nice to swim in.
Good enough for me 🙂

I have not gone swimming with it but, I do wear it in the shower. I have to say the first time felt unnatural but, now I have gotten used to it. As for the soap, I am very careful about how much gets on my wrist. I did it because I frequently was fainting after being in the shower, and wanted to check pulse. But you are supposed to be able to wear it swimming, though I definitely don't recommend salt water as this probably will ruin it.

I had my Versa for about 3 month. I was able to shower with it easily and I went in to the pool with it a few times. When I ran in to a problem was when I went swimming in the morning then I went swimming in the afternoon. When I got out of the pool in the afternoon the Versa was dead and it had water in it's sensors. I would recommend swimming with it once a day. I dried it when I got out of the water but I will take it off in the future to dry it see if that works better. I should be getting my replacement soon.

I'm a lifeguard so if I would need to get in the water would my watch be fine or should I get a different one?

I've had my versa for 2 weeks and this morning I noticed that what I turned my wrist the face didn't come on as it was set to do automatically. I then realized that it appeared as though the battery was dead. I put it on the charger, and a few seconds later a white screen appeared ... just white, with a few faded vertical lines ... but nothing else ... it looked like a fried computer screen. I've worn it to water aerobics about 5 times the last 2 weeks ... I deleted the device and decided to reinstall, but when the steps said you'd see a 4 digit number on the versa screen obviously I couldn't because the screen was white. I'm pretty sure my versa has died ... and of course it's Sunday morning at 5 am so I can't get any help until Monday when customer service opens. I'm so bummed if I can't wear this in the water ... if indeed this is what damaged the versa as I've already sold my other fitbit ...

Whenever I wear my versa in the ocean the watch always vibrates and makes changes to the watch face settings on its own....Not to mention always having to put in my pin every time it gets wet as well!!

No watch - even expensive dive watches - will every be listed as waterproof. Water resistant is the industry term to describe how much water any watch can take before its point of failure. If Fitbit says 50 meters, then the watch should be assumed to have the ability to withstand the amount of pressure exerted on the casing by 150 feet of water. Your watch should not break in the shower, or in a swimming pool due to water exposure. Fitbit isn't trying to be tricky with wording here, this is how the watch industry does it. Swim away!
