Is the Versa waterproof?

ANSWERED

I have seen other topics, however, they are more talking about the Ionic. I'd like to see if anyone has actually gone swimming or showered (doubt the latter) with the Versa on and how did it fair?

I can see with the Ionic the states aren't super accurate however I am not too worried about the stats. I am more wondering about the device itself. Any issues or complications with it post swim or during the swim. I have only had mine a couple of days and have yet to get the guts to sink it.

Congrats on being one of the lucky ones. I just have one question - did you replace the band?

Best Answer

Just a thought - how many of you who have had troubles with your watches not being waterproof, had changed the band? And those of you who were "lucky" - same question? Wondering if that might have been an issue.....

Best Answer

I agree

I do not believe changing the band had any impact on my watch not working during my aerobics aquatic exercises

Fun fact: I scubadive in my Versa. I obviously use a diving watch also, but it's nice to not have to take it off every time I dive or get in the water. It also is interesting to track the swimming portion depending on the strength of the currents. If your Versa isn't working with water, just contact them and they'll send you a new one, sans the bands. I've had to do it a couple times for other reasons, and they're great about it!

Went out in the ocean chasing my kids last week didn’t get waist deep got hit by a wave and it went blank. So the answer is no to ocean water.

I just went snorkeling with mine and, fortunately, we both survived
(although I did get a bit of a scare because my battery happened to die at
the same time). This thread has been going on for nearly a year now... I
think we can authoritatively say the answer is "sometimes." From reading
all of these replies, it seems there are good ones and bad ones.

Contact them. I have lived in Thailand for 2 years and go to the beach
regularly and I haven't had a single problem. If I ever do have a problem
it's with syncing and they even sent a new one to replace it. They're
supposed to be water and ocean proof... Sounds like you got a bad one!

Yep I’m getting a new one I’m just lost without having something on my wrist. Thanks!

I wore my Fitbit versa to the pool 2 days and the third day of has stopped working. Need to send it back.

Best Answer

The versa is claimed by the mfgr to be water resistant down to 50 meters. However, after reading several unhappy users report that their tracker died when submerging in water, i tried it in my above ground 5ft deep pool. I did only submerse the watch under water a foot or so while floating on my air mattress. Paddling.slowly with the watch in and our of the water. After leaving the pool, the watch was frozen in the swim mode. By holding the right bottom button and the left button I was able to free it and return to the watch face. I tried other exercise modes and they also froze. I rebooted with no change. I than restored to factory defaults and now the wat h again works fine. Will I swim again with it? Not likely. Since Im not an avid swimmer for exercise, i am not asking for a refund. But buyer beware. If swimming is your thing, be careful.

Why is there a swimming option in the exercise app if it isn’t waterproof?

Best Answer

From the best I can determine from reading other posts, some work better than others while swimming. As with many other Fitbit issues, they rarely reply to these issues when being discussed on the Fitbit community. It does appear that they will replace a defective watch.

Best Answer
They have replied occasionally here in the past if you read back through
the thread, and they stick very closely to their approved wording.
Basically the Versa is not certified waterproof so they stick with the term
"water resistant." I agree that being "resistant" at 30 meters is a
ridiculous statement and they should just get the thing certified so they
can charge more.

Yes, they are very cooperative to replace units that drown.

Yes. I swim 3 to 5 five time a week no problem dive to bottom of 12 ft
For over a year no problems. Love mine.

After swimming several times in 4 ft of water, the sticky gasket that exists under the perimeter of the watch exists under the glass came out, then the watch face fell open revealing the inside of the watch. Never showered or bathed with.  Only swam less than 15 times. Absolutely not waterproof.

Best Answer

This is exactly what happened to mine (a few months after my 1 yr warranty). The rubber gasket around the screen came out and the screen just came off (still attached by the connector).

Best Answer

Yes, exactly, mine just a few months out of warranty as well.

Best Answer

Just reading through the posts above, I have never replaced my band or a had any other issues with this watch, other than the gasket falling off while swimming.

Best Answer

Thanks, for this. Mine just broke when swimming, so I plan to take it back. Just out of curiosity, what band did you get?
