Is the versa buggy or did I get a dud?

I purchased a new versa approx 2 weeks ago to replace my pebble which was starting to get a bit worn/battery life had decreased. This was the first device that actually looked good to me since pebble was brought out - there were a few things I had to compromise on but I was pretty excited.

That lasted about 10mins until I got home and tried to set it up - only to discover that I had to set a watch face to use the watch, yet the watch faces were unavailable due to a server issue. After 24hrs I was finally able to set up my watch. Since then I have been fairly unimpressed. The notifications seem very hit and miss - my watch and phone appear to be connected so I go about my day and then pick up my phone to send someone a message and notice that I have missed calls, messages and emails that I was never notified about. The notifications is the main reason that I have a smart watch, so I can have my phone volume down low so it doesn't irritate others in the open plan office, but I know that if my son's school need to get in touch with me they can.

I've also had days where the phone and watch refuse to sync - I can force it by restarting my phone and watch - but seriously - I shouldn't have to do that multiple times a day with a $350 product. And on Friday this trick didn't work either - it was offline for about 12hrs. Yesterday the watch restarted on its own for unknown reasons - I only noticed it as I was wanting to check the time, and noticed it was restarting - who knows how often it actually does this. It also randomly looses connection with the watch (obviously - the watch face has a bluetooth connection indication, not the loss of connection I've had when I've been unable to receive notifications.)

Another concern is the fairly subtle vibration on the watch - I used the silent alarm on my pebble so I didn't wake everyone in the house up in the mornings - however the vibrations on the versa are so slight, even on the highest setting that I have managed to sleep through the alarm. I've also been unable to connect the watch in a way that I can use it to control music on my phone - despite having no issue doing so on the pebble.

So - is the versa just a buggy product? Or did I get a dud? Am thinking of going back to the retailer tomorrow and asking for my money back 😞

@amy3000 what phone are you using? It sounds a bit like compatability problems with the notifications and syncing. Is it on the Supported Devices List?

No - it's not - and that is a very limited list - if the device will only work with a very limited set of devices they should advertise that - rather than saying it works on Android . . .  I previously had a charge hr with another phone and that worked fine (until the strap kept breaking) with a phone that wasn't on the list . . .

Oh yes, I agree. Phones not on the list can certainly work, but they are not garanteed to work. I have a Samsung not on the list that works fine with my two simpler trackers but is more of a problem with my Ionic.  I think the more complex the tracker the more selective they can be in whatbthey sync to.

The issues you are having did sound like compatability issue to me, so I suppose it is just going to be 'buggy' with your phone Im afraid. ☹
