I've read that last week there was a firmware update to fix January's mess. I don't have the option to upgrade yet and according to the latest version in their page, my device is already on the latest one. So I need to ask, was there an update last week? 🙂

Currently, the latest firmware version for the Fitbit Versa 2 is 72.1.9 as stated in this article. This version was released back in January as announced here.
For instructions on how to check your current version please visit this site and open the menu "How do I find the version number for my Fitbit device?".
Where did you read that last week there was a firmware update?

I've read it in this community forum, actually. Maybe I got it wrong.. I saw a lot of new threads reporting issues with battery draining and HR going waaay below before "after last week's update".. I thought it was a new firmware release, but a have the latest one, confirmed by the steps you pasted above. Thank you.

For the past three weeks my Fitbit Versa 2 has had the heart rate connection problems also, plus a month ago it quit tracking my sleep. My Fitbit Versa 1 started sowing similar things like randomly shutting off and rebooting more then once, then it gave me a blue light of death and quit altogether. It seams like the same thing happening all over again. I haven’t had a Fitbit last me over a year yet. This is my four Fitbit also.
