Issues after firmware 70.7.14 release

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Can anyone tell me approximately when a fix will be released for the Firmware rel 70.7.14.  It has created much chaos for many of us.  Our watches dont function properly and there are many issues by users.  I just wondered how much longer it may be that Fitbit engineers will have this resolved.  I've done everything the fitbit help folks told me to do and I still dont have a watch that functions properly.  This issue is now 30 days old.  Any update by the fitbit team would be greatly appreciated.

I have already done everything your help center asked me to do. Problems
not solved. My issues:
1. If I shut watch off battery completely drains.
2. When watch is turned off, and turned on next day it does not recognize
the new day and shows previous day stats.
3. Calories does not reset to zero.

Nothing the help center gave me worked. So I'm very disappointed in the
damage this update did. Watch is less than yr old.

Hi @Julie4605 , can you please explain your issues after the update to 70.1.14? I also updated to this new version on an unsupported device and have no problems at all, regards kuzibri

Hi @Julie4605 , see your answer just now after my post. I only can advice you to call Customer Support about your problems, they are not normal. I also flagged your post to the Moderator Team. One of them is soon contacting you via this topic, so keep a close eye on it, regards kuzibri

The issues that you described are the same ones that users have been reporting on the post that announced this firmware update and then pushed.  It started as soon as the update was pushed and users are still reporting it.  Some devices have been bricked via the posts.  The moderators on that thread acknowledged that the development team is aware of the issues but no mention of when an updated firmware to correct these bugs will be pushed.

There are other individual threads with users posting the the same issues with the major one being the battery drain after shutting off or just in using the device.

After seeing all these posts, I opted not to do the firmware update.  The enhancements are nice but not worth it to me if this firmware update is going to cause my device to be bricked, unresponsive or not working as it should.

You clearly didn't ready my message.  My response to @Julie4605  was to let her know that she wasn't alone in the issues that she has been experiencing due to the firmware update of 70.7.14.  Users have already gone through the song and dance of troubleshooting due to reading the posts trying or contacting support to find resolutions after installing this firmware update.

I personally didn't update to this buggy firmware version after reading the various posts that were posted as soon as the firmware was announced and pushed.  I also started reading other invididual posts regarding issues that are still being posted caused by this firmware.

Per the moderators on the original firmware thread, they advised that they had taken the issues being posted to the developement team so that they could provide a resolution but they couldn't provide an ETA as to when an update would be released.  Which was the same response I received from Fitbit.com via Twitter when I asked about an updated version.

This update should have been pulled as various users requested until the bugs had been corrected.    I am not updating to any firmware until the Fitbit developers properly and throughly test an update instead of being so eager to push it out and have a plethora of issues that the end-user (Fitbit's customer base) has to endure and deal with.  Some issues that have been ongoing for a long time and no proper resolution in sight that just get worse with each update. Why do you think users are just saying I'm done with Fitbit and going to your competitors?  Why do you think that the users that are going else where or are totally frustrated with no timely resolution insight for these isssues are saying never again will I get another Fitbit nor will I recommend this brand?

Some folks like @SunsetRunner have been lucky and have had no issues while others haven't been and are dealing with major issues.  The battery drain especially after turning the Versa off for any duration of time is one of the major issues, having devices bricked and non responsive, not working as before the update, etc. etc.

Sorry, I personally will not risk my functioning Versa for a few enhancements that I may or may not even use.  Any confidence that the updates would be a benefit for my Versa has gone by the wayside after this firmware update and has me considering other options.

You clearly didn't not ready my post.  I didn't update to this firmware and I will not update until the Fitbit developers can provide a properly tested and functional firmware update.  Not an update that has a plethora of issues that the end user (Fitbit's customer base) has to continually deal and contend with.

I posted to let @Julie4605 know that she wasn't alone with the issues she was experiencing per the thread conversations on the original post announcing this firmware update and the push notification.  There have also been individual posts referencing the same issues.

Per the moderators on the original firmware post, they have taken the responses of the various issues back to the development team but there is no ETA of a fix.   Which was the same response that I received from Fitbit Support via Twitter.  I don't understand why this update wasn't pulled from the servers until the bugs had been removed, like many users had requested.

While some users like @SunsetRunner have been lucky and have had no issues, others unfortunately have not been (bricked and unresponsive devices, major battery drain especially if turning off overnight, Versa not keeping a charge...dropping from 4 days to barely a day, not syncing / notifcations, etc, etc.)  Why do you think users are frustrated and going to Fitbit's competitors?  Why do you think users are saying that they are done with the Fitbit brand and not recommending the devices?

The enchancements of this firmware are not appealing enough for me to take a gamble on my functioning Versa to try to do an update that I may or may not be lucky with and have to deal with these issues.....no thank you.

hi @SunsetRunner , maybe the difference lies in the fact that I use a Versa 2 and not a Versa. Reading all the issues regarding the new update, it mainly affects Versa users, especially the battery drainage and the three buttons procedure instead of only the left one. Regards kuzibri

I agree with you.

I dont think the original Versa or the Versa Lite could handle this firmware update and it shouldn't have been pushed across the Versa family.

Fitbit should have different firmware  updates that have been properly and thoroughly tested for older devices versus their new devices.

This is why I wont take a gamble on doing this firmware update.   My Versa is working just fine and I want to ensure that it stays this way.
