Latest firmware bricks the watch

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Beware that the latest firmware appears to have been designed for planned obsolescence. If your watch is under 12 months, go for it, maybe support will send you a replacement. If its over 12 months then get ready to be told to fork over money to solve the issue by buying a new watch.

After the latest firmware update, my Versa Lite would no longer stay connected to Bluetooth. It lost time, wouldn’t sync, wouldn’t connect. Luckily, mine was still under warranty and it was replaced. Now, I have the issue of not being able to install Fitbit apps because it says the Versa Lite isn’t up to date.

Seems that the problems started with Apple Bluetooth Covid changes. Since then I can only log activities if the FitBit app is open in my phone & the battery only lasts 20% of what it used to. As mine is >12 months old no hope of replacement so looking at other brands now as, yes, this is now a brick 🙄🙁

I'm back to wearing a dinky little Fitbit Flex 2.

Reverting firmware has not fixed the issue. Watch only works when docked.

Mine is well and truly bricked

black screen of death

7 months old versa 2 so should get a replacement waiting to hear from support - hoping it’s soon

went to bed Saturday night all ok fully charged woke up Sunday morning black screen tried everything and nothing works

sensor at the back not working

watch vibrates if I hold the back (left) button in or put it on charge but that’s about it

app is showing a new firmware ready for download but my watch is no longer synced to the app and I can’t sync it as the watch shows only a black screen

seems such a common problem and Fitbit don’t seem to do much about it shocking really wish I had gone for a Apple Watch

i expected more than 7 months out of it if i’m being honest

I know right! So many people used to ask if I was wearing an apple watch and were always surprised it was just a fitbit. My wife has an apple watch and it's like 2 or 3 years old and still ticking. Has anyone seen the $35 knock-offs on amazon? They look exactly like a versa but probably not as good, but for that price I could just replace if anything broke or even if the hardware/software went bad after 13 months.

Same happened to me, now my versa is garbage.  Fitbit likes to tell customers that are 12 months +1 over just to buy a new one and fill the landfill with their defective product.  Very irresponsible!

I will go back to charge or Purchase a knock off or get an Apple Watch that can last over 13 months and can be repaired.  Apple cares about customers.

Having the same issue - bought my VL 1 year and 1 month ago. As of 1 month ago, it will not longer sync/connect to my phone unless I go through the whole reset/reboot/reinstall the device (even that doesn't work).

Right now, I've turned my phone off and back on, turned off/on my VL, turned off/on blue tooth on phone, uninstalled VL on fitbit app - and now fitbit won't identify/sycn with my VL.

Fun times.
