Hi, I have had my Versa 2 for 2 years and 4 months, and I can see that it is slowly dying.  It is difficult to get it to charge, though it eventually does, and it has become even more sluggish.  It sticks on steps.  Time for a new one.  And do I go for the Versa 3?  Any help appreciated

Hi @Louise237 - difficulty charging can often simply be due to dirty or corroded terminals, check they are in good condition with a magnifying glass but turn off the device first, to protect your eyes.

Also turning it off and fully charging it may resolve some of the issues.

Another thing to try is switching to a Fitbit clock face to ensure good performance as clock faces can develop issues. You can always Reinstall the watch face you currently use, it may fix any problems.

If you use the Versa for it's heart rate you probably would replace it with another given that there are various issues with the newer models. Look in the forums for any particular items of interest.

Hi Guy

Thank you so much for your response.  I have cleaned both sides of the charging bit.  I have a simple clock face and as Fitbit are not updating the Versa2, I thought I would go for the Versa 3.  I wonder if you or anyone else would recommend.  Happy New Year

@Louise237  - thanks, Happy New Year, others may think differently but you should have less problems with a Versa 2, unless there is something very specific you need it would be the better choice.

The Versa 3 is more a good looking beta test watch [main issues are heart rate and floor count inaccuracies, short battery life and charge cable failures] .

Of course if you enjoy playing with it to make it work, it may be fun.

See... I think the watches should last around 4 years each. Not need replacing every couple of years. I can see why it happens as it encourages people to buy a new product but to me, it's poor. We are supposed to be saving the planet and not throwing things. Very poor from Fitbit.

I totally agree that a product should last longer than a couple of years.  And Fitbit don't help certainly.  But soon after buying Versa2 Fitbit announced that there will be no more updates.  Also I am having trouble charging.  And what with Guy saying that there are problems with charging with the new  Versa, I am now reconsidering which smart watch / tracker to buy when my Versa2 finally dies.  I want to stay with fitbit, as I have been a user since 2014.  Happy 2022 and thank you for replying

Am too worried about the same, for the cost of Versa 2 we have invested we could get better gadgets I believe, in a span of 2 years am seeing trouble on the screen and that too for my kind of usage, never taken it through harsh weather or dropped. Screen is showing double images and I could see images behind the clock face, tried changing clock face and still not resolved. did factory reset and deleted the device and paired again.

Now its time to throw away and take a new one, definitely not going back to fitbit.

Yes it is quite a lot of money for just 2 years.  There has to be built in obsolence in all products so that people will buy more and more, even with the current climate crisis.  But then they are in to make money , and they won't make much if a product lasts a long time! I have been with Fitbit for 7 years and I quite like looking back at my history.  I suppose I will lose that if I go for a Garmin or some other tracker!

Happy and healthy 2022
