Does anyone know what needs to fix this or if it is related to the last update. My Fitbit shows up to date...

Try a Restart and do it several times if necessary.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have shut it down and powered it up several times over the last 4 hours and they are still there ☹

A restart is not the same as turning off and back on.

Try a Factory Reset by swiping left to Settings and then About, Factory Reset.
