So earlier today my steps were 17,500+ steps, I’ve now synced again and have lost approx 10k steps and it’s only showing 7496 🤦🏼:female_sign: Any advice please?

Thank you for the information provided.
If a third party app is connected to your Fitbit account, please make sure your activities don't get overlapped because this could overwrite the steps registered by your Fitbit Versa 2. You can check here your list of activities and verify if there was an activity registered twice on that day.
