Make & Take calls on watch?

I love the new Fitbit Versa.  It seems to be a good smartwatch.  But, I want to know if there are plans to develop a Fitbit smartwatch with all the features of the Versa plus the ability to answer and make calls with an Android smartphone via bluetooth.  I love the smartphone notifications ability with Versa.  I am looking for a Fitbit smartwatch with the capability to answer and make calls.  Please!!!  Right now, I wear my Fitbit on one arm and a smartwatch on the other one.  I really want one device on one arm.

@Rich_Laue Great call out!

@Matt_Pebble_2 You can only answer/decline phone calls if you're using iOS. There isn't any additional functionality for phone calls.

Hi @pmsolomon! Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I totally understand your dilemma. It's nice to simplify our lives with fewer gadgets on a daily basis. Right now, Versa and Ionic do have the capability to answer phone calls on the device. However, to make phone calls we're not quite there yet. Please consider voting for this Feature Suggestion! Our Feature Suggestions board is a great place to make your ideas heard. Hi Aless,

Will it have the ability to decline a call with a swipe/button press? Or any other sort of action on an incoming call alert?

Best Answer

According to the user manual, manual found in the help Docs, yes if your on ios. like the Blaze and ionic already do.

I too also wonder why this feature is only for iOS and not Android after all this time, You would have thought they would have fixed this....unless they intentionally keep that for iOS only.

I believe they should have the ability to do this, my pebble and pebble 2 both can decline calls with my android phone, whats up with that FitBit

Best Answer

You can't control the call if you're using Android? I bought this assuming it would control calls on Android as well. 😕

Best Answer

from what i am told you cannot reject calls from your watch, only iOS can do that

My Pebble can do that, they bought pebble

I also had tons of trouble setting up music control last night with a versa and Nexus 5X

I'm a Pebble guy too, some of this experience makes me both sad and angry considering the chopped Pebble. Have you had any success controlling music on your Android? I'm on a OnePlus 3 and can't get it to work right at all.

I have Samsung 8 and I was able to get music to work.  It was frustrating. Had to connect bluetooth  to versa classic. Start playing music on your phone. Then hold left button down,  swipe right. Have source on "phone", and u should see controls appear. I had to restart my phone and fitbit, but it worked.

I got it to work once before as well. But it's not consistently easy to do. More often than not by watch doesn't see that there's music playing at all.

So let me tell you the ridic process i go through to get it working for 1
minute and then it drops back out

Go to settings and blue tooth, click it to pair and then find the Versa on
my Nexus 5X and pair it so it is connected via classic mode

now long press the back button until it comes to the screen where you would
control your music, press the three dots, and set it to watch for a second
then back to phone, i often had to do this multiple times and it would show
music controls for my spotify music that was playing the whole time

@Matt_Pebble_2 It seems that going from Pebble to the Versa we are downgrading a smartwatch. I'm waiting to get the SE Versa, but with all these comments, I will probably just test it and wait for the next two generations of Fitbit Smartwatches when they get closer to my two-year-old Pebble.

If they acquired the Pebble software, how they couldn't even get the basic functionalities working right?

I'm assuming these are growing pains that'll get ironed out. The health tracking features are still excellent, and the apps (for me anyway) do more than I could with a Pebble by utilising the touch screen.

@smbeaudry It's good to hear the health tracking features are working well for you. That's my main motivation to change to Fitbit, but I would like to keep the ability to control my music, quick replies and reject calls from the watch as well. I hope they will solve these issues soon. It seems like software updates what is needed.
