Measured distance innacurate when hiking

Hi everyone,

I've been experiencing a problem with my Versa watch/fitbit app when tracking my hikes lately. When I hike, I use the exercise tracking, make sure the GPS on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S10e) is activated, and wait for my watch to connect to this GPS before beginning to walk. Even though I am doing that, the distance measured by fitbit are always off by almost 50%. For example, I hike a 12,2 km hike last thursday, and my fitbit tracked a distance of 6,89 km. To make sure my phone isn't the culprit, I also tracked my hike on my phone using other apps such as Viewranger, and it measured the distance exactly.

I contacted Fitbit support a few months ago and they suggested I reset my watch to factory settings which did not seem to fix the issue. I also looked everywhere in the Fitbit Community Forum and haven't found a working solution or answer. One thread seemed to show many people are experiencing the same problem, but haven't found the solution and this thread was closed by a moderator who also stated :

"Important: I'm now going to close this thread from further comments. If you're experiencing any issues with the connected GPS on your Versa smartwatches, please create a new topic with the specific issue so we can address it accordingly as many of you have reported different issues with GPS that are not related to title of this thread. "

I expected an update which would fix this problem by now (I have experienced this for a year). Since I still have this problem, I am starting a new thread. Anyone found a solution for this? I don't need to tell other users how frustrating it is to track activities and get data which is off by 50%.
