Microphone isn't registering any sounds

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

When replying to text messages via the speak to text capability on my versa2, the microphone no longer works. I cannot use Alexa either. The microphone is not registering any sounds. I have reset both my watch and phone but nothing it working. I have disabled my notifications and turned off the microphone, then restarted my phone and turned them back on. Nothing. How do I fix this?

Hi @Agalbraith001. Welcome! It's great to see a new face around. I'm sorry for the delay.

Thanks for letting me know that the microphone isn't registering any sounds, as well for every step that you've tried on your own. You did a good job! Since this isn't the correct behavior, I contacted our Support team to share your details and apparently they already took your case under their wings. Please keep an eye on your inbox.

I'll be around, keep me posted.

I am experiencing the same issue, I have done all of the steps as noted in the multiple posts with the same issue. Chatted with customer support, their answer was to come here and search for an answer, on my own, to the issue. The only thing that I found was that this appears to be more than a little common.

Please help!

Hi @Delmarksman. It's great to see you here in the forums. I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for sharing that you have the same issue, as well for contacting our Support team for further assistance. You also did a good job while troubleshooting your Versa 2! I got in touch with our Support team and I was told that you were advised to post your suggestion about supporting your mobile device in our Feature Suggestions board since it's not compatible. While other other members have experienced this issue, it's required to sync with a compatible device to ensure that all the features will work flawlessly. I'm sorry for this inconvenience and be sure that our team continues working to add more devices to our official list.

Feel free to let me know if you have another question.

Hello, sorry that I missed your reply until now.  The point that I am trying to make is that it does connect. Connectivity is not the problem. The microphone is the issue! It only hears me if I raise my voice and quite literally, put my mouth onto my wrist, half an inch away from the microphone itself. If I do exactly that, it works. Any distance whatsoever, even 2 inches away, and it will not register/record my voice. This was not always the case!!! When I first started using the Versa 2, it would pick up my voice, in a normal tone (!not shouting!) from 8 inches to 1 foot away from my mouth. This is a device issue, not a connectivity issue: "This microphone is no longer working correctly." It works but only as described as above. As is noted by the dozens of posts here at the community... I purchased the device directly from Fitbit, not some third party. I expected that if I had a problem, and I am, that Mother Fitbit would honor their commitment to the reliability of their product. I and my family all have Fitbits and we have successfully used the different products for many YEARS! And always had good experiences with them. THAT right there is why I went directly to Mother Fitbit to order my Versa 2, rather than a third party. I even bought the extended warranty from Fitbit rather than Assurion or others, at a much higher cost. Sadly, at this point, I am second guessing all of those decisions.  You guy make a fantastic product, I started with the HR, moved to the Charge 1 and now the Versa 2, and I am having a difficult time believing that you aren't hearing what I am saying. This is microphone related, not connectivity related..., Please help me. Sincerely, Bruce C.

I am having this same issue, I've tried all of the troubleshooting so far as well. My fitbit is not that old either, I have only had it for about 4 months. 😞 I have always had Fitbit products and i hope this can be fixed.

I love my versa 2. The main reason I chose this band was because of the onboard Alexa. How frustrating that it's not working. Seems like ALOT of folks are having the issue. Hey guys, tech support wasn't much help any other ideas.  #wantalexabackagain

Has anyone actually gotten any resolution?  I just see people like me having the same problem for months, any fixes?

I have restarted my watch and phone, cleared the cache a on both the fit bit app and Alexa app.  I am using a versa 2 on an Android phone, galaxy note 10.

No actual resolution that I am aware of. I kept being told to do "the steps" over and over and over. Finally, when "Fitbit customer service" could not figure it out, they did two things: They sent me to the forums to figure it out on my own and blamed it on my phone.
Seeing as how it does not work correctly with ANY phone that I sync to, it's not a phone issue!I gave up dealing with (the lack of) customer service.
I am however telling every single person that I can to not waste their money on fitbit products, as when (not if) something goes wrong, they will be stuck.
Also, as a long term customer, on my family's 6th (or more) fitbit product, I am very disappointed, to say the least. Especially since I spent the extra $$$ to buy my Versa 2 factory direct including the "Factory" warranty, for a LOT MORE MONEY than a 3rd party warranty, mistakenly thinking that "if" I had a problem that I would be good.

I have never been able to get my Alexa feature on my versa two to work! Every sound recording is just a garbled static sound… I may have gotten a defective watch I’m thinking!

The same issue has happened to me as well and I have also tried to remedy with the same ideas but none of that had worked. What can I try next?

Same here. Versa 3. Mic stopped working out of the blue.

I am having the same issue with my Versa 3. My mic randomly stopped registering anything (yes it's on). I've tried to restart it and even went as far as a factory reset.

I really liked my original Versa and was very excited to get my Versa 3, but have been completely disappointed with it since I got it. As soon as a decent Wear OS watch comes out, I'm ditching the Fitbit.

I have had my new Fitbit sense for a little over one month. I am having the same problem as above with the assistant Google Assistant. Also tried it with the other assistance neither is able to hear my voice. I have tried all of the suggested fixes restarting my phone restarting the Fitbit canceling the Google Assistant adding the other one I go through all the settings to make sure everything is okay and still it does not hear me.
