Mile tracker not working properly

I thought it may be something I needed to program but I've had my Versa since the 3rd ot this month. I'm thinking of returning it for another, but would like to get everyone's feedback first. It seems the Mile counter on my Versa is not correctly working. I've not dropped it and treated this watch as best as I can. I went to the gym and biking and tracked miles on another device. It turns out I totaled 12 miles in one day and my Versa said I went 1.05 miles. I even tried to keep my phone near me cause I was uncertain if i need my phone next to me to keep the info consistant on my watch. Is anyone else having trouble or should i just return it for another??? Please give me feedback as I'm thinking of doing this tomorrow.

The Versa uses GPS from your walks and runs to determine how many steps it takes you complete a mile.  If you used it without GPS (like in a gym) it probably would not calculate a mile correctly unless you have used it for a number of runs or walks with GPS first.  (It will get more accurate over time)
