Miles and steps are off on the Versa

My Versa is great however, I've noticed while walking it doesn't give me the exact steps and miles as my friends iPhone watch does. Im always half a mile to a mile off! Also, while bike riding my versa doesn't give me the miles I have completed. Does anyone know why?
