Music sync went from bad to worse.

I thought the previous firmware & desktop was bad. OS3 is HORRIBLE! It looks like Music sync on the Versa with Windows 10 was released without any QA or testing. Who coded this garbage?? I spent the last 3 hours trying to upload music onto the Versa. It seem like hit and miss. The same MP3 file will work sometimes and the other time it would show as "invalid format".

Definitely not getting a Fitbit again or recommending to others.

I think I've finally solved this. Fitbit developers please take note and get this fixed, QA'd and tested before releasing the patch. I'd be happy to help where possible.

OK, through trial and error I found that the following tweaks to my existing mp3 files will make them synchronize and will not trigger the "file not supported" message.

  1. Bitrates set to 128, 192 & 320 kbps.
  2. Property "Title" is not blank. Some mp3 files do not have this property set and is blank.
  3. Properties "Contributing Artists", "Album", "Album Artists", "Genre" and "Year" are not blank. These are not consistent, I left them blank by default. But if  tweaks #1 & #2 still causes the "file not supported" message I fill in these fields with some texts.

Although buggy, most of my mp3 files are sync'ing now. To adjust bitrate, I used Audacity to open the the MP3 and export to a new MP3 at 320Kbps. Hope this helps someone.

Edit: Some files encoded at 192Kbps or 320Kbps and tweaked like above still will not sync for some reason. These seemed like older mp3 formats. For these I re-encoded them again using LAME.DLL.

I'm not sure if this is the best place to comment... but I have spent hours trying to figure out how to get music to transfer my versa.  I have read the directions over and over!  Fitbit Connect just keeps looking for my tracker... I don't get past that part.  Very, very frustrating!!!!

I think this is with Fitbit. Don't get me wrong, Fitbit has great hardware and tracking abilities. But have you used the music sync component on OS3.0?

It was hit and miss for me as well. But I got my tracker to connect. The music sync component is so buggy it's ridiculous. Just be aware, some of your mp3 files may not sync now.

I think the fix is to junk my Versa and get a Garmin.
