Music updates and Windows 8.1

I am looking to purchase another fitness watch as my Charge 2 heart monitor stopped working.  Thought the Versa would be better (water resistant) AND get to play music.  I have seen posts that indicate music can not be transferred using Windows 8.1.  Is this correct?  I have a Surface and a desktop both with Windows 8.1.   I would prefer NOT to upgrade to 10.   Is the PC app required?  I never use the PC app so just noticed that it keeps shutting down each time I open the app. Thanks!  Glad I researched first. Will check this on other watches.

Hi, the Versa will only get music transferred form your PC or Phone's Fitbit app when it's connected to WiFi, which means that you Versa needs to be in the Charger and connected to PC with WiFi enabled within your Fitbit app settings. this is cause the Versa in it's own does not have WiFi but uses your PC/Phone as a bridge to connect to WiFi. If you want do to this via a PC, you will have to install on your PC the Fitbit Connect app. Do not know wether that works with Windows 8.1, but it's worth a try. Read this article: How do I set up my Fitbit device? Click the link and you will see "Trackers and Watches" , click that and the article will expand to a very long one. Scroll down untill you see Fitbit Connect (directly underneath the first video) and read it carefully. As is saw just now, it's compatible with Windows 8.1. Good luck and keep me posted!
