My Versa 2 is over counting steps while riding the bike.

My Versa 2 calculating more than extra steps while riding the bike. It almost counts 10000 steps for a 100km ride. Most of the road I travel I smooth. And this is a constant problem am facing as I am a regular traveller. For that reason, I can't get my actual step count. Please suggest some solution otherwise for the amount I have paid for the watch and for the purpose I have to buy it is worthless. complete loss of money. And I don't expect this error from a reputed brand like Fitbit. And I cant regularly delete the steps manually, practically not possible for me.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Subrat2004.

Thank you for the information provided.

Please make sure you choose the Bike exercise from your Fitbit Versa 2 before starting your workout. If you use automatic tracking to detect your bike ride, make sure the Outdoor Bike exercise is set to be automatically recognized. For more information, see How do I track my activity with my Fitbit device?

In addition, please make sure you've set your dominant wrist in your Fitbit account. The dominant wrist setting decreases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any over counting of steps when your body is not moving. Your dominant hand is the one you use for writing and eating. You can find this option if you go online to fitbit.com > Settings > Devices > Versa 2 > Wrist.

If you haven't done it already, please restart your watch by following these steps.

This has been reported before, and it seems to be a bug or by design rather than EdsonFitbit's suggestion of errors in the tracking. This is shown by the three screen shots I have attached for my bike ride yesterday (Wednesday). On the Outdoor Bike page it clearly shows that 0 steps out of the daily total of 11,799 were accumulated on the ride. On the other hand, on the Steps page it shows the steps for the day are largely accumulated over the duration of the bike ride, 2 hours and 4 minutes starting at 8:28am (and no, I did not do any walking on the ride). The app clearly knows that this was a bike ride and therefore should contribute no steps, but spurious steps are still added to the daily total.
