I’ve signed up to a fundraising challenge to walk 310,000 steps throughout March and it has come to my attention that my Fitbit versa 2 only tracks maybe 1 in 10 steps!
I’m literally watching it ignore my steps as I’m walking, it sometimes jumps a couple of steps but never as many as I’ve actually taken.
Can anyone help? I’d rather not have to count my steps manually after spending £250 on a watch!

Thank you for the information provided.
Please keep in mind that if you're doing something like pushing a stroller or shopping cart, your Fitbit Versa 2 will count your steps but the total may be slightly lower than usual. In addition, when you are walking on the treadmill we recommend moving your arms as if you were walking outside.
If none of the above is related to your case, please restart your watch by following these instructions.

My Versa started doing same exact thing you describe after I did the firmware update Sept 2020. Sometimes tracking is accurate & other times it seems to have a mind of its own. I’m no longer doing updates as they seem to cause more problems than they fix. Furthermore, fitbit fails to provide any content info for updates so users know what’s changing & can decide whether they want to install an update. Release descriptions that merely say ‘Bug fixes & improvements’ doesn’t tell users a darn thing about what will change 🙁

Don’t laugh at me but I’ve found a solution!
if you wear it around your ankle it tracks your steps perfectly 😂

I actually attach my Fitbit to my sneaker laces when I’m biking since that activity & others don’t record correctly.
