My Versa Appears to be bricked

I've had my Versa for at least 8 months, and for most of that time, it seemed to work fine. Then, just today, I stopped being able to link it via Bluietooth with the Fitbit app on my iphone. I went online and followed several sets of instructions to try and fix it. I tried the following:

  • Turning the fitbit device on and off using the the proper buttons(multiple times)
  • Turning the iphone on and off (multiple times)
  • Forced closing and reopening the app (multiple times)
  • Turning Bluetooth on and off (multiple times)
  • Removing the device from the app and attempting to set it up again (it didn't work, because it couldn't link with the bluetooth on my iphone)
  • Every combination of the above actions (except the removal thing).

Finally, out of desperation I reset the device to factory settings and it quit working altogether. It blacked out and now does absolutely nothing.

Hi, was there any resolution to this issue? I have the same issue, and the watch appears to be bricked.

It will not respond to charges, or any of the button combinations. This happened after I had done a factory reset.

I finally just gave up. Fitbit wanted all kinds of proof of purchase which
I didn’t have (it was a gift) to replace it. I have since received an ionic
as a gift.

my versa bricked following a water aerobic activity. No response to anything. Have you had any success?

No, I had no success. Fitbit wanted proof of purchase to replace it, and I wasn’t able to provide it, as I received mine as a gift. Anyway, I replaced my versa with an ionic (also received as a gift) and so far it’s working fine.

My versa 2 would not track sleep accurately, got on with support, followed instructions and together we bricked it. I had this watch for 15 days. Replacement is on the way. So far not impressed with Fitbit.

I had the same issue last night.  Bricked on a factory reset.  Seems like an ongoing issue at this point

So is this how things work for you Fitbit? You send out and bogus firmware update that causes all kinds of problems with logging sleep and things like that. The forces the user to try a factory reset, which bricks the device.

Hardly a good business model. Just for that, I am looking at Apple watches instead

I had the same problem. I was having an issue with the heartbeat, went to a chat session with a fitbit rep, was instructed to reset and update --- and ended up with a brick. They told be it was out of warranty, but they would happily collected more money from me if I bought a new one at 25% off. My first fitbit lasted 9 months and then had to be replaced under warranty. This problem happened with the replacement fitbit - which was only 8 months old. So I have had 2 fitbits and neither one could last 12 months.

Fitbit is a piece of junk and a scam. Stay away from it!

Same problem, Fitbit Versa 2 is dark and not responding to reset.

Factory help required.

I have the exact same problem. I was having an issue with the heartbeat sensor not working and tracking properly, so I went to the forums to look for advice. Followed the advice given by a moderator to someone else, that didn't sort it, so tried a factory reset which was also recommended which has resulted in the screen have 5 coloured lines down it. It is now totally unresponsive.

This is the second versa, as the first one was replaced less than 6 months after getting it by fitbit due to the battery not lasting for 24hrs. Now it is literally only 13 months since it was replaced and it has died yet again! Unfortunately it looks like I will also be in the same predicament as it will now be out of warranty and I doubt they will replace it for a second time.

My Versa 2 is completely dark also. I purchased Dec 2019. Started having an issue with the battery not holding a charge within just a few weeks. 16 days before it went dark I was having to charge every day. It has been dark 3 days. It went dark and I put on charger thinking battery was dead. Next day still dark so left it charging. Still dark so removed from charger. Looked online for troubleshooting. It said hold the back button 10 seconds. I did that and nothing happened. It said if that didn't work, turn it off and back on. Went to instructions to turn it off and it said to go into settings on the watch. It is dark. How can I go to settings? Useless instructions! So now I have a brick after only 6 months use.

I have had similar problem after turning watch off just can't turn it back on!

Pressed and held various combinations of button and eventually it has started, logo appears followed a few minutes later by watch face. Give it a try what have you got to lose.

Same with mine. I have one I bought for my daughter and one I received as a gift, and BOTH BRICKED ABOUT A WEEK APART - only a few months old - but MORE than Fitbit’s “45 day warranty”.  I’m shocked at FITBIT’S LACK OF SUPPORT.  This obviously happens to a lot of customers. It’s appalling customer service. I would suggest EVERYONE put their money elsewhere for a fitness tracker or smart watch with a ethical and responsible company backing their sales.

I just want my money back so I can get something reliable and backed by their company.

I’m planning on an Apple!  Good riddance FITBIT!

Update:

You got a better offer than I did. They only offered me 50% of the price of my 2 NEW VERSA 2’s only IF I APPLIED IT TO ANOTHER FITBIT PURCHASE -  uhhhhh I think I’ll pass

Hello,

After a friend informing me that fitbit UK had a two year guarantee I contacted them on the live chat. The person I corresponded with was very helpful and eventually issued me with a replacement once I had to returned my versa for them.

I would contact them again asking about the two year guarantee as you should be entitled to a replacement for both.

Good luck
