My Versa doesn't turn on

Last week the "scheduled maintenance" (which FitBit didn't bother telling anyone the schedule of and I suspect was "emergency maintenance") somehow bricked my FitBit Versa.

It crashed during the maintenance while in run mode, the touchscreen became unresponsive and then a few hours later died completely and wouldn't turn back on.

After browsing the forums, it seems a lot of Versas die.

FitBit support were utterly useless and made me send videos of it not working. Today I took it back and had it refunded, and I'll use the money to buy a recently price-reduced Samsung S3.

I will never buy another FitBit. The company cannot develop software, doesn't care about its customers or the quality of its products and is circling the drain.

I wish everyone foolhardy enough to stay with FitBit the best of luck - you'll need it.

They gave you your money back. You could have purchased a brand new one.

I don't see bad support behavior from replacing or refunding a device. Especially when it happens fast without too many issues dealing with the support...

Wishing you the best with the Samsung device but I doubt support will be any better if you ever need it.

FitBit support were useless, telling me the 45 days had passed and that I didn't buy it from them anyway. They offered nothing useful alongside platitudes of "keeping me in the FitBit family" (mafia style perhaps?).

The device died after "scheduled maintenance" which wasn't actually forecast to anyone.

Many people have reported failures of their Versas here.

If you think that's the hallmark of a good company, you might have Stockholm's syndrome.

P.S. I had to argue adamently over 2 days and invoke Australian Consumer Law to get my refund instead of an exchange. I know a dud company when I see one; FitBit are terrible and don't care.  It wasn't easy to get the refund.

Nothing about owning a FitBit is easy.

Best of luck finding that out.
