My Versa is charging slowly

Though I'm using the charger that came with my versa classic I often get a message that its either charging slowly because I'm not using the original charger or just not using original charger. And it does charge slowly.

Hi @Tejano57  how are you charging the device? You using a power bank, tablet or laptop that is using power and not plugged into the electric?

Hi @Tejano57, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check our help article:How do I charge my Fitbit device? for instructions of how to properly charge your Fitbit device. Such article also includes a restart process which can be really helpful for this situation.

I get this message no matter how or where I charge. Plug into laptop: check. Plug into USB wall outlet: check. Plug into power bank: check. No matter where I plug it in, I always get this message. Also restarting does nothing to prevent the message. I always get it. FITBIT SENSE

Hi @susandennis  is your laptop plugged in when you put the Fitbit charger in it? Not all power banks work to charge our Fitbits. I tried out several of my power banks and only a very few of them have enough juice to power the Fitbit. Are you able to charge, despite the message?

I get the error if my laptop is plugged in or not. Makes no difference. I have tried a variety of power banks, and wall plugs, and wall outlets. No matter what I use, I get the error. Have since the day I got my Sense. And, yes, I am able to charge despite the message.

Some USB chargers have much lower capacity than others.  IOTW, the brick that your charger is plugged into.  That can easily cause a slow charge.  Plus over time some get weaker and weaker.

Having said that, I gather you are using the original magnetic dongle that came with your Sense.  I'm running into my own problem - I bought a 'spare' dongle in the form of a stand and always get charging slowly message regardless of what USB brick I use.  Having just gotten both the Sense and stand, I'm guessing my new Sense is OK, but my stand is either defective or poorly designed.

I just got a brand new Sense and I have tried multiple outlets and also my PC. It says slow charging no matter what I do.

What are you using to charge it?
Best Answer
I have tried 4 different adaptors connected to wall outlets. I have also tried connecting it to the USB port on my computer. I'm very frustrated at this point. I paid more money for this than my last 3 fitbits combined and I never had this kind of issue before. I have 30 days to return it and if I can't get it to charge properly thats exactly where its going.

A few notes;

I would only plug the adapter that came with it into a good charger brick
designed for quick charge 2 or 3 amp output, in good condition, recent
vintage. I would also be sure that it was properly lined up with the
Fitbit. I have noted that some 3rd party chargers have weaker magnets
(talking about Versa 3 and Sense) than what comes with the Fitbits plus
it's easy to misalign, and I'm guessing that some 3rd party chargers have
poor charging circuits, shorter pins, lower quality metals, etc. If you're
past all that go for a swap.

As I mentioned in my original post, I was using the charger supplied with my brand new Fitbit Sense. It did finally complete charging after about 4 hours but the constant charging slowly message prevented me from doing any of the setup until it was completely charged. THEN came the bigger issue. I could not get the Sense Control to stay connected to my phone. I did all of the recommended troubleshooting for over 3 hours. Every time I got far enough to test it my call was transferred to my phone and I got an error message on the Fitbit. I even checked my cellphone and it is an Android version 9 and 7 or above is recommended. The main reason I purchased the Fitbit Sense was so in an emergency if I was walking the dog I could call my husband without pulling my cell out of my zipped pocket or the dog pouch. Obviously, I can't rely on the Fitbit Sense. After two days of research, troubleshooting and total aggravation, I returned it. The sales associate said it was her 2nd Fitbit Sense return for the day. My 5th Fitbit and the 1st I've returned.

I'm still confused - if your primary need is just an easy way to make a phone call from outside your coat while walking your dog, a decent but inexpensive Bluetooth headset device would be a much more direct approach to the task.  And much simpler, much less expensive.

It wasn't the only reason it was just one reason. I also wanted the ECG feature, liked the big bold face that I could read without glasses, always wear my Fitbit so it wouldn't be something else I needed to remember when I walked out the door. And, with my luck, if I fell the earset (which I hate) would go flying and I would be in the same predicament. I just really like my Fitbit and was hoping the features on this would meet my needs. I took it back and I'm back to using my Charge 3 which I really love.

My best suggestion is to stick to your Charge 3 and find some BT unit that
doesn't fall out of your ears. I've got one that allows me to plug in
really comfortable earbuds with well fit rubber tips that usually hold
well, for whatever its worth.

Switching the brick is what got my error to go away. Thanks for the tip!
