My Versa is jut displaying "To start, download the Fitbit app"

I just took my fitbit versa out of the box and I set it up through my windows 10 laptop. I was able to add my device to my account and update it and everything, and the app said I was good to go. I wanted to use my versa as a watch like most people do, but even though I'm connected through the app, the only thing my versa displays is the, "To start, download the fitbit app." The weird thing is that it tracks my steps and syncs to the app. It's just completely useless to me if I cant even tell the time on it or see my progress during workouts. I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem which makes me very frustrated. Brand new out of the box and I'm already this disappointed and upset. Someone please help.
