My versa stopped working. When I put it on the charger it works. When I take it off the charger it does not work.

only had it since 26th June and this has happened, it is obviously a known problem.

Same problem just died randomly. Whilst on charger says battery is full.

Take off the charger and it blanks out immediately. How to fix??

I am having the exact same issue. My versa is less than a year old. Tried restarting and that doesn’t help.

Hey i am having the same issue. My fitbit versa first worked and i put it on charge for setup and now it is not working if i unplug it. It only works when it is plugged in and has no battery so that i can reboot it

I read others have experienced their versa only ‘working’ when charging and dies upon disconnecting. I’m experiencing this issue and see questions but not much answer!

thanks tons.

Hi there,

I've had my Fitbit versa since December 2018 and I noticed a couple of days ago that the screen is black and doesn't wake up. Tried restarting/resetting and nothing. It only works when on the charger. On the charger, it shows as fully charged but as soon as I remove it from the charger, the screen goes black.

What can I do next?  Thanks!!

My versa is doing the exact same thing. I’ve tried doing the reset/reboot several times to no avail. It only turns on when it is placed on the charger even though it has a 100% charge.

UPDATE - It no longer works on the charger, only a 0% shows on the screen when I put it in the charging cradle. I bought another charger after cleaning the pins didn't work. Still the same issue with the new cradle.

HeydyF, I'm impressed with you.  This is my first time on the community board.  I came on because I suddenly am having trouble syncing my computer with my Versa and wanted to see if others were having the same problem.  I've seen other customer service reps initially respond to a concern, but not follow up.  So far you are the only one that followed up with a customer.

I’m having the same problem—only working when on charger and can’t restart off the charger because it has no power.  I’ve had my versa for two years now I think, but this just started an hour or so ago.  It was working fine all day!  Unfortunately, I need it as my alarm tomorrow morning so the timing is quite unfortunate haha.  Anything I can do?

I was able to get it to sync about once a day, but could not yesterday and today.  I'm tired of being told that the problem is that my phone isn't on the list and my computer doesn't have Bluetooth.  It worked for almost a year.  I'm starting to wonder if they did something recent and now it is affecting some of us.  I wish I could be of more help, but I don't even know what to suggest any more.

Ugh, this is so frustrating. I’ve had issues with multiple generations of Fitbits over the last 5 years, but I’ve kept coming back because of the great customer service and their willingness to replace faulty products. I hope that’s not changing 😕

Idk if this will help you but I ended up cleaning the prongs on the charging port with an alcohol swab then plugged it in and while it was on I reset it to factory settings and then there was an update for it. After all of this it has finally started working. Mine is also about two years old.

Thank you, I’ll try that!  How did you reset it while it was charging?

When the screen comes on while charging go into the settings then go to about then select restore to factory settings. You will loose data but it helped me get mine working. Then I re-paired it to my phone and did the update and it started working again

I found a fix for Versa not getting accurate data for steps and stairs. My fix is for an iPhone (not sure if it will work on all phones). Go to settings on your phone and disable Bluetooth. Wait a few minutes, then turn Bluetooth back on. I was missing 2 days of stairs and steps, and this fixed it.

Same boat.   It shows fully charged and once it is out of the charger it shows 0% battery.
