Hi @nvtx - it looks like you have the opposite problem to many others who have a faulty cable and they get them to replace the watch!
However if your watch is faulty and new, get a refund, or get a new one from the shop where you bought it.
Or contact support again and get a replacement watch, it might not be a new one.

Good luck getting Fitbit to give you anything but smug and arrogant lip service. My Versa 3 did not work out of the box. After two long chat session and one long telephone call with support, they agreed to replace it. I followed the instructions to the letter to send the faulty watch back. That was over a month ago and I have not heard a word from them on where it is in the process.
I chatted with support a week ago and they said the watch had been received, but they could not help beyond that. I posted a comment here in the forum, and received a condescending, smug response from a Fitbit moderator (Andreafitbit) - who went on to edit my comments to whitewash my concerns. I wish I'd never bought the darned thing, it has led to nothing but frustration.
Two months after I bought the thing and I still don't have a watch. Ugh

Hi @PraiseDancer - can you tell us, what did it die of? There are some common faults that make it play unresponsive.

@PraiseDancer - that sounds serious and terminal, did it get wet at some point previous?
Another reason for it to get hot would be dirt on the contacts or faulty charge cable making a poor connection.
If you want peace of mind check with a magnifying glass.
If it is getting hot stop charging to avoid risk of explosion.
