Hi all, I need help as my new fitbit versa is not tracking my exercise automatically. I have tried reboot the watch, unpair bluetooth and paired again, uninstall and reinstalled the app, everything I can but it just not working. The dashboard does shown the total of steps this morning just nothing under the track exercise.

What type of exercise where you doing @Starryenn? Did it last long enough without any long pauses?

Have you tried restarting the tracker, or shutting it off through the Versa:s settings/help menu? Press the lrleft button to turn it back on.

While the tracker can be removed from the phones Bluetooth, it can not be paired again by the user, this pair again needs to be done by the Fitbit app. Therefore I have no idea what you or others are rrffrrref to when the day that they re-paired the tracker.of course non of this should have any affect on dlaito detecting a walk.

Hi! I am having the same issue. I have upgraded from charge HR- which auto  tracked 90/95% of the time. The first day with thr versa it tracked sport, a walk and a run. But since then (today is day 2!) It has failed to track 2 seperate workouts. Even though it tracked distance and active minutes. I have checked on fitbit.com activity log and it is not there. I have synced, waited, resynced, restarted, reconnected etc.

I also miss the feature of starting the stopwatch- where I could see calories burned in that time etc, does the versa have anything similar? I have used the stopwatch but it did not auto track as a workout, which is charge HR seemed to.

I'd be grateful if you know of any further steps I could take? I was really excited about the versa but if it can't track workouts I might have to go back to the charge HR 😞

Thanks! 🙂

@laurahelen your Charge HR does not have a stopwatch, you where using the exercise recording mode. While the Versa has both a stopwatch and timer, it also has a multisport exercise recording mode.

How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?

Track your workouts in real time with the Exercise app to capture in-depth activity stats

To sum up
The Versa can be configured to record up to 7 of 20 types of exercises.

@laurahelen Thanks for visiting the Fitbit Community.

The Fitbit Versa will automatically track the following exercises:

- Walk

- Run

- Outdoor Bike

- Elliptical

- Sport

- Aerobic Workout

- Swim (select devices only)

Please make sure that your activities last longer than what you have set on your Fitbit account > Settings > Devices > Auto-Exercise Recognition

If you still experience difficulties, please try to wear your Versa on the other wrist to see if anything changes.

@Rich_Laue Thanks for your support.

If you have any question, please let us know.

Honestly, I have had the same problem from day 1.  I hate this watch. Will not auto track exercise. Does not sync properly and I am extremely disappointed. I have followed all the steps to troubleshoot the issues to no avail.  I wish I had never bought this awful watch.

@michelle0000000 Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Sorry for the delayed response.

I'm sorry to hear how you feel about your Fitbit Versa. Thank you for following all the steps to troubleshoot the issues before contacting us.

By default, SmartTrack recognizes an exercise that lasts at least 15 minutes. If your activities aren't being recognized, lowering the time auto-exercise recognition setting to 10 minutes may help ensure they record properly. For more information about how SmartTrack tracks your activities, please review this help article on the section How do I automatically track activity with my Fitbit device?

To resolve syncing issues, I would appreciate if you confirm that you have followed these troubleshooting steps.

Please let us know if you have any question.

The problem inquired about is that the Fitbit Versa does not recognize typical walks, swims, runs, etc.  The link provided in this response is not related to the question being asked.  This link takes me to the site which logs one's participation in a stylized walk like the Yosemite Trail - that kind of activity.  Tell us how to get the Fitbit to recognize when I take a walk on the beach, or go To an aerobics class.

Having the exact same issue! It's so annoying!

The charge 2 was a much better watch. I can't even do half the fancy things the Versa Lite promotes it does (control my music through my watch) as it so frequently un-syncs.

And this inability to tracking exercise is so frustrating! I just did a 45 min hiit workout and apparently I didn't according to my watch?! Wish I hadn't bought it to be honest.

I have the same problem. I work out and i mean really work out for 45 minutes with i high heart rate... during a ro-cycle ride. It does not track this correctly at al! It showed only 15 minutes... It does not recognize any biking, i bike through amsterdam al day as wel it does not show this as well. I bought this watch to track my exercises i'm really disappointed. I feel like my Charge HR did a better job, it tracked everything automatically and and i could track with the button. 😞

I noticed that it did not track anymore after 15 minutes.

I started at 20:00 and it stoped after 15 minutes while my work out lasted 45 minutes and i had a heart rate of 160/170 after that as well i saw it on my watch.

And other days i did a rocycle classes as well and it did not track it at al!

Please help cause i don't want to return my watch i want it to work.

Thank you

Half of your posts don't say what type of event your tracking @Rinskyy

Yes with a press of the button your charge HR could track a lot but would classify it as a workout. Your Versa has 19 or 20 different exercises of which 7 may be chosen to be started with a press of the button.

If Rocycle is a stationary bike, then your correct this will not be possible to auto detect. Your arm doesn't move enough or in a specific pattern. You will need to use the i. I suggest spinning may be the best.

Have you downloaded your user manual yet?

I am having the same issue as well.  I am aware of how to set exercises in the app.  Every exercise is set to 'auto-recognize' after 15 minutes.  I have restarted my fitbit Versa.  I have deleted the app off my phone.  I reinstalled my fitbit app.  I turned off my Bluetooth, and I turned on my Bluetooth and reconnected. Basically I tried everything.  It worked two days ago, and it just stopped working...  Is this a common flaw with the watch?  Sort of annoying because it's a replacement -- the other one didn't work either (different issue with the first watch)...

I also switched the watch to my other arm and went for a run for around 45 minutes -- that didn't track.

Same for me. I had to manually put in some of my exercise yesterday and today.
