I just bought a new fitbit Versa but it does not register my sleep. How can I solve this?

Welcome to the Forums @Mazi80.

Thanks for bringing this up. I will be moving this to the Versa board as I think it is better suited for the situation.

As for the sleep tracking itself, I'd recommend reading this article about how sleep is tracked.

There are several reasons why this could be happening. Maybe you are moving a lot during the night, or you sleep with a fan or window open. A draft of air could cause the Fitbit to think that you are awake. Additionally, if your HR is very high during your sleep there is a chance that your Versa might confuse it for being awake, or if the Versa is not as tight against your wrist.

If none of the above could be the reason, please let me know so that we can look into other possibilities.

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

I've had my Versa for a couple of weeks now and haven't had a problem with the sleep tracker until now. I've done nothing different and last night it didn't register anything at all. And it is also dropping my Wi-Fi and I have to go in and turn it back on every morning. For the amount of money I paid this should last for more than a few weeks.

Welcome to the Forums @SunsetRunner.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Did you get the article I shared above? There are some reasons why the sleep might not have been tracked in there. If you haven't please do check on it to verify if none of those could be the culprit.

As for your Wi-Fi, are you saying that you have to turn the Wi-Fi on every night or the connection? It is always a good idea to restart your watch from time to time. This helps keep the Fitbit working properly at all times. I'd recommend that you try to perform a restart.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I discovered that my new Versa wasn't tracking sleep while I had the fan going. We're in the middle of a heatwave, and I need it to drop off to sleep so I'm puzzled why a stream of air = awake. Is there a way to fix it?

I have been using the fitbit for a long time. The Alta, then the AltaHR, and now the Versa. I have never had an issue tracking sleep until this model. I have been wearing it since Christmas day and it has logged my sleep twice, that's it. Is there something wrong with my device? I'm a little disappointed with the Versas lack of tracking so far.

Welcome to the Forums @Crystaln1 and @j.a.eckert.

I apologize for the delay in my response.

@Crystaln1, if you could set the fan in an angle such that there isn't that much wind hitting it, then it should do the trick in getting everything to be tracked correctly.

@j.a.eckert Did you go through the article I mentioned above and the tips listed in there to improve the sleep tracking? If not, you can click here to see it.

I have been through all the suggestions from Fitbit and from other users the last few months. The Versa is a waste of money! It claims to have a long battery life, I'm lucky if I get 18 hours! The only notification I get on the watch are text messages. The device still doesn't track my sleep either. But I guess that doesn't matter since most nights it has to charge so I can actually use it during the day. The Versa was a very expensive digital watch. You failed Fitbit, you failed.

Hello @j.a.eckert.

Thanks for confirming that you have gone through all of those steps and sharing that the battery has to be charged daily.

I have reached out to your team so that they can get in touch with you about the battery issue and the other situations as well. I can definitely see how this might have been very frustrating to you. Please be sure to keep an eye on your email's inbox, and the spam and trash folders, for their mail.

I read the article and see that a high heart rate might affect the sleep monitoring.  I have a pacemaker that keeps my heart rate at 85.  Can this be affecting the ability to monitor. Can the lower level be changed?
