New Versa 2 won't connect to Amazon Alexa

My new versa 2 will not connect to my Amazon account. It comes up saying "unable to connect. There was an error connecting to your Amazon account. Please try again."

 

I have cleared caches, tried WiFi and data, uninstalled and reinstalled both Amazon and Fitbit apps, restarted my phone. Not sure what else to try. I'm on a samsung galaxy s10

Had the same problem with my versa 2. Contacted fitbit support and still no help. So I finally found away to fix this problem. First uninstall the amazon shopping app from your device. Then go back to the fitbit amazon app. Let the app set up your amazon account through your phone browser. After everything is complete try using alexa on your watch. If that works you can then reinstall the amazon shopping app on your phone.

Usually this will happy because of a mobile device compatibility problem. Look here to make sure you are compatible: https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/technology/compatible-devices

Sorry for the slow response. I found this article that might be helpful here: https://www.myhealthyapple.com/alexa-not-working-on-your-fitbit-follow-these-tips-to-fix-it/ It will give you tips as well. I’ve done some digging around and have read some of the troubleshooting tips you described in your first post. I did notice some individuals having success after restarting their modem/router. I’d give that a shot too. Doesn’t hurt to try. I do know that you can’t have Alexa and Google Assistance on at the same time so if your also using Google Assistance turn that off then try setting up Alexa. find calling them directly or live chat the best way to communicate with them.

I had this problem after doing fine for 6 months. Contacted support four times and kept being told to do the same troubleshooting over and over - the usual stuff - force stop, uninstall, reinstall, check for updates, turn off, turn on....etc. Last guy told me to factory reset. DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hesitant but did it and now the device is DEAD. COMPLETELY DEAD. And, Fitbit's solution is to offer me a 35% discount on a new unit! I'm really unhappy to say the least.

NOTE: this Versa was a replacement for one that conked out in October 2021. New device, but they say it only is covered by the original device's one year warranty which ended in January 2022. HUH????

YES! Thank you!! I uninstalled the Amazon app and set up via browser without problem. Fitbit support unhelp for me also. Thank you so much!

Thank you for finding a solution. Absolutely crazy that you need to uninstall the shopping app to get it to work though!
