New Versa 3 won't turn on

I have a brand new Fitbit versa 3 . It has been in charge for 3 hours.  I have tried pairing it with the app - this appears to have worked but the screen on the Fitbit  is blank so I can’t see the 4 digit code to put into the app to complete the pairing. 
i have tried to restart - still not working and nothing on the screen .

any ideas  please ??
