New Versa - Possibly keeping the old Versa

Hi.  Bear with me here, this might be long.  Ok, First let me say that I got my first Fitbit in January.  It was the Alta HR.  I primarily got it to track sleep & heart rate and eventually start to increase my steps (I have physical issues and a bad knee).  After using it for a while I decided that I didn't want to be without it and purchased a Charge 2 in February.  I then would alternate between them.  They both had things I liked about them.  When I saw the Versa, I really wanted it.  I purchased the Silver/Gray in June and even though I wasn't sure I would like the larger size, it feels more comfortable than the other two and I really liked it.  Liked it so much that I sold the Alta HR and was keeping the Charge 2 as a backup.  I can't bring myself to wear the Charge 2 for more than a few hours while charging my Versa...I just miss the look & feel of the Versa too much.

When I first purchased the Versa I couldn't decide between the Silver/Gray and Peach/Rose Gold. As I said, I did purchase the Silver/Gray and I do like it.  However I keep seeing the Peach/Rose Gold and I really wanted it.  I do know that you can NOT have two Versa's (or two of any of the same devices) connected to the app at the same time.  Frankly, a little frustrating if you ask me.  I'm crazy and I went ahead and purchased the Peach/Rose Gold and received it today.  I really like it but still really like the Silver/Gray.

I did remove the Silver/Gray from my Fitbit app so I could install and setup the new one.  However, I did NOT reset it.  So now I have a conundrum.  I now have 3 Fitbit's but only the Charge 2 and the new Versa can be connected at the same time.   I doubt I will wear my Charge 2 for more than a few hours while charging the Versa.  I thought I might try to sell it.  But now I have the first Versa I purchased sitting here.  Originally I thought I'd give it to my husband but I got him the all black one.  Now I have to decide if I want to try to sell the old Versa or hang on to it.  I could keep it as an emergency backup in case one of us has a problem and can't afford to replace it for a while.  But I'm wondering how hard it would be if I was in the mood to wear the silver one to remove the rose gold one and add the silver one back in??  Again I have NOT reset the silver one.  Is it just a simple matter of syncing the current Versa, removing it and then adding the other one back in and updating it??  Or would I need to reset it and go through the whole setup process all over again.  Just need to know what my options are before I make a decision.

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

@AlvaroFitbit  Hi again!  I wanted to give you an update since you did ask me to let you know what I decided.  A bit of a story but hopefully not too long.

I purchased the Fitbit Versa (all black version) for my husband.  I ordered it from QVC because it was on 6 easy payments and after spending the money I have been lately, this was the way to go.  We received it the other day and spent a few hours trying to get it setup.  No matter what we did, it wouldn't pair to his iPhone 8+ (same model as mine and I had no problems with the original silver/gray or the new peach/rose gold I purchased).  I searched for help and tried all suggestions.  We ended up skipping that part and continuing with the setup.  However my husband immediately complained that the app wouldn't show that he was wearing the Versa.  It was showing either his Charge 2 or Alta HR.  He said that was not acceptable.  So we removed it, reset it, boxed it up and sent it back for a refund.

I asked him if he wanted to try to setup my silver/gray one (although I wanted the gray band).  He said yes.  So we went ahead and tried that one and after a few minor issues with it not seeing it, we got it all setup and paired properly.  I gave him my black band and ordered another one.  So he now has a Versa and will be selling his Alta HR and keeping his Charge 2.

I will also be keeping my Charge 2 as a backup.  If I have a problem with my Versa after the warranty period is over, I'll just have to get another one.  I'm not sure what he'll do if he has any problems with his Versa.  He does have one small complaint and that's about hourly activity.  He said on the Charge 2 it will show how many more steps you need for the hour but on the Versa it doesn't.  It just shows the hours and not how many more steps are needed.  Overall he does like it.

So that's the story.  Thanks again for your input.

@nhlisa Welcome! Thanks for being part of our Community! Quite the conundrum you have there. I would rather sell the second Versa instead of just keeping it in storage. If you do this it would be easier to keep the money safe so you know you can replace it with a brand new device if it comes to that (remember you do have coverage from your Fitbit warranty so check it here). Also the gold one is the newer one so it's warranty period just started. Additionally keeping the Charge 2 (I have used mine for over 18 months and really like it) will accomplish two things, keep your heart rate data while you charge your Versa and making clear which one is the preferred one (instead of wondering when you might want to change from one Versa to the other). This way you won't care too much about the Charge 2 and will serve as a backup.

Let me know what you decide.

I have an Ionic and a versa, and chaning between them is a but of a pain as I have to remove one and re-add the other each time I want to change. The other annoyance is that it seems to reset my apps to the default settings each time I remove it from the app. One time it even reverted the clock face to the default one (and no, I didnt do a factory reset). So up to you, but on one account it is too much of a problem for me, so I have the Ionic set up on a separate account. Unless Im doing challenges (which I dont do a lot) it doesnt matter to me that all my data isnt in one spot, but you might be different.

@AlvaroFitbit Hi & thanks for your opinion!

I'm not making a decision anytime soon.  As far as the warranties, the "old" Versa was purchased in June and the new one in July so that doesn't make much difference to me.

Selling the "old" Versa would just end up giving us money to spend....which isn't a bad thing....extra spending money is nice.  We aren't good about saving money here.

My heart rate is just about the same using either the Charge 2 or Versa.  Overall I prefer the Versa.

Right now I'm just trying to figure something else out before making a decision.

Thanks again for your opinion!

@NellyG  Hi & thanks for your input!

I really don't understand why you can't have more than one of the same device on the same account.  (While the Ionic and Versa aren't the same, I guess Fitbit classes them as the same.)  It would make things easier for those of us who would prefer to have two of the same devices to switch between than two different ones.  At first when I got the Alta HR I wanted to get a second special edition one but glad I did some reading first.  That's why I got the Charge 2 instead.

Having it revert my clock app wouldn't really bother me much.  I usually use the Simple Clock and it's not hard to re-install it if need be.  As far as resetting the other apps, I don't think I'd have much of an issue there either.  I deleted the music apps as well as the other things that I knew I'd never use.  I only have the following apps installed: Today, Settings, Timers, Tips, Exercise, Alarms, Weather, & Relax.  The only one that has any "settings" is weather and that wouldn't be a big deal to add back in.

I wouldn't want to use a second account.  Too much confusion for me and I do prefer my info be in one place.

Just wondering, how do you get that "sign off" where you have your name, location and other Fitbit information?  I'll have to see if there's something in the settings for that.

Lisa

Edited: never mind...I found the answer to my question about the signature.

@nhlisa sorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for letting us know what you did and happy to hear that your husband has a working Versa now. I am really happy to hear that both of you have a combination that works for you. By the way he should get the count of steps missing 10 minutes before the hour ends on his Versa but the Charge 2 will show this amount randomly (you can still tap the main menu to scroll and see this information).

See you around!
