New Versa battery dies daily

I have had my versa for about 1 month and it was purchased brand new.  For about the first week it was great.  More recently for at least the past 2 weeks, the battery life is nonexistent.  I will charge it to 100% and it will still be completely dead in about 12 hours.  I charge it multiple times a day and have left it on the charger for a full day just to try, always dies within 10-12 hours.  Help!!!! I feel lost without it

@BeSlick have you tried rebooting your versa several times by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until fitbit logo flashes?

I guess I either wasn't aware of that option or just forgot, but I tried that now and have adjusted a few settings. So now we wait and see.  Thank you!

@BeSlick Welcome! It's nice to have you on board! Sorry to hear that your Versa's battery is draining quickly. Besides following @Marrrmaduke suggestions you can try cleaning the contacts including using cotton with rubbing alcohol then charge it by plugging it for a couple of hours directly to your computer's usb port (try different ports) or use an UL listed usb wall adapter. After this restart your device and see how it behaves.

I have a new version of the problem.  Twice now, my Versa at 100%.  I go to bed, a few hours later I check it and the battery is dead.  Didn't find out this morning until, at 6AM, I was heading for my commuter train.  BTW, all auto sync options are turned off.

@pbug56 Reboot your Versa several times by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo flashes. Keep an eye on it. If the issue persists, please report back. Good luck!

Before I do so, what is this supposed to do?  Just curious.

@pbug56 reboot? It is a restart of the device. Perhaps something is running in the background draining the battery. Also, does your Versa sync without any issues?

I've been in IT since 1979, so I know what a reboot is and does.  I also know that once every several weeks or so the Versa goes from 100% charged to 0%maybe 5 or 6 hours later.  Sync is fine, behavior is fine, I find myself wondering if there isn't something mechanical, maybe a defect in the unit.  Normally my Versa loses about 12% charge every 24 hours.  So drain is normally minimal.  No parasitic drain.  Yet it does drain quickly once in a while.  That's why I posted here, to see if there is any history of this happening.
