New Versa logging floors when I'm sitting

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just got my new versa yesterday ... I've already had to reset it a few times due to my active minutes and heart rate not being tracked. This last time it seemed like it might of been fixed... But I had to delete all my previous info from it, so a few minutes into wearing it and sitting at my desk it logged in 10 floors for today...what is going on!? Am I resetting too many times? I literally just got this yesterday 😞

Hi @SunsetRunner

Floors are counted using an altimeter. An altimeter is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure and atmospheric pressure decreases with increasing elevation, so the it calculates elevation gain based on the reduction in atmospheric pressure. Your trackers register a floor when they detect continuous motion combined with an elevation gain of about 10 feet. Given the fact that 10 feet is an average between residential and commercial floor heights, although commercial floors in particular tend to be higher than residential floors. Sometimes your watch may detect pressure changes unrelated to elevation gains, such as a gust of wind, weather change, or opening a door. Exposure to excess moisture can also result in extra floors being counted. This happens if the pathway to the altimeter on the back of your watch becomes temporarily blocked with sweat or water. At this moment I would like to suggest you to restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen, then test it.

It will add floors when it is windy or cold, and if your altimeter is temporarily blocked with sweat or water.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know the outcome.

I tried this and it did not change anything. On another note, I had already done some research because before upgrading to the Versa , I had a Fitbit Charge that did the same thing. I was able to fix my charge and it worked fine and I was aware it may sometimes add floors due to atmosphere pressure, change in elevation and all that good stuff...BUT what I'm saying is that I am sitting at my desk (working) climate controlled office, and all I did was reset the Versa, wear it for about 20 minutes, sat here and did not move, or do anything that could possibly make it count all those floors already. In total, I think I've worn my Versa for a total of 8 hrs since I unboxed it. I doubt there is sweat or water since I just got it and have been very careful with it (even though it's water resistant lol)
