New to Versa, no sleep stages

I just started using the Versa on June 26th. The sleep graph showed sleep stages for that night. The rest are sleep patterns. Did I unknowingly change something?  Also, do I need to manually start sleep or will it automatically start when I do fall asleep?  Wednesday night it did not track any sleep until I selected begin sleep.

@KathyFreddie I've found that the sleep tracking tends to err on the side of tracking too little, rather than too much. Mostly. I just manually change the times in the morning. I've also found that deleting a log that doesn't show the sleep stages and adding it again can show the sleep stages. I haven't tried it, but I think manually starting sleep in the app makes it not record sleep stages, but only simplified sleep.
