I set up my versa last night. I am not getting my notifications from my phone even though everything is synced. Is there another step I need to complete?

Also I have only been wearing the watch for 30mins and it is already saying I have burned over 500 calories. Is there anyway to clear that out so its accurate?

I can explain the second bit.

As well as tracking calories burned through activity your fitbit also tracks your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). They are calculated from your profile settings for age, height, weight etc so you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. What you are seeing includes the total BMR calories burned since midnight.

So I just need to do the math each day to find the calories burned during
the day?

You do really burn the BMR calories each day so if you are using your fitbit to help with a weight management plan then you need to take them into account.

If however you just want to know how many extra calories you burned through exercise then I'm afraid it's a manual process of deleting the BMR calories from the total.

Any thoughts on the notifications? I have tried turning notifications off
and rebooting both my phone and versa and turning them back on. I have only
gotten one text notification. No phone calls. Emails are working.

I don't I'm afraid - I have never made use of them so I'm unfamiliar with the process. Have you gone through fitbit's help file on notifications at https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1979/

I have.

I do question the calorie count it is giving me. It's starting my day at 520 burned and saying I burned 1500 daily for days that I didnt even have the watch. I only consume about 700 calories a day, plus i go to the gym. How can I burn more than I consume?

It's those BMR calories that are confusing things.

I burn around 2000 calories per day and 1400 of those are my BMR calories.

If you look at a day in the past, even for a day before you had the fitbit, it will calculate the total BMR calories for the day based just on your profile settings.

Here's what fitbit have to say on the subject: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1381

It might be worth spending a little time on google to get a better view of them. You can even find online BMR calculators so you can compare the fitbit calculations.
