You have to use the watch to get heart rate. Mobile track is just the GPS tracking you without the watch. There can't be heart rate data.

You used to be able to start GPS tracking from the phone app and it would import the HR data from your tracker for that period after you synced it, for some reason it was either removed or a bug. I agree with @MarkMM though, you can start the workout from your Versa and it will use connected GPS.

@N8teGee How did that used to work? The only way I know of to start GPS from the phone, is mobile run. And mobile run is advertised as a back up to track a run/walk/hike, in case you forgot your tracker. Fitbit doesn't advertise it to do a hand shake with the tracker and import data. So there wouldn't be a glitch if it's not importing data from the tracker. Was there another way?

@MarkMM yes it was mobile run. You would start the workout from the phone (this would also give you the benefit of audio cues) but just wear your Fitbit as normal with no interaction. Once you had finished the mobile run, it would then import any HR data collected by the tracker during that period. I did it a few times with my Ionic when I didn't want to use the onboard GPS. This no longer works and doesn't import the HR data anymore, whether this is intentional or a bug, I don't know.

Thanks, Sounds like a cool trick you found. Too bad it stopped working. I couldn't use it anyway as I bike. No Bike option in Mobile run. Sounds more reliable than connected GPS.

@MarkMM it was a handy workaround, that's for sure. One good example was if the user was using a tracker that didn't support connected GPS (Alta HR, Charge HR). They could have then used this to track GPS with HR. The only negative was that you didn't have any live workout data displayed on the watch, as it was just in the normal step tracking mode on the clock face. I guess it also meant the HR data was every 5 seconds instead of the every 1 second you'd get when in exercise mode, still a good compromise for some though.

Hello everybody,

As correctly mentioned by @N8teGee somebody might have an Alta HR for example and wanted to track a GPS section. Other possible good reasons somebody might want to track the session with the phone could be:

1) if the users wants to receive the audio cues about his/her run since the related suggestion has been closed as not planned

2) if, for example during an hike, the user wants to always check where he is on a map

3) if the users cares about real distance as it is proven the tracker provided stride calculation that can affect the result drastically

Originally this was possible and it is still possible in case of no GPS tracked session. For example if you do a Fitbit Coach session or a Fitbit workout while wearing an HR capable tracker the related HR info would be then imported into your session.

Apparently the feature has been removed purposely by Fitbit (see this article and specifically the following excerpt

Use the Exercise app to record GPS data for your workout. If you use MobileTrack in the Fitbit app, your heart rate might not appear on your device

As far as I understood the feature has been intentionally removed hence it is not considered a bug.
