No sleep tracking and recording steps while sleeping

Hey there.  My versa is not recording any sleep and instead tracking hundreds if not thousands of steps when I am asleep.  Very frustrating and wondering if it is faulty.

Hey @Bond039, welcome to the Community! Cat Happy This sounds indeed odd my friend. Let me suggest you something to avoid this from happening again. Try to restart your Versa by following the instructions in this post. If you'd like to delete the extra steps that were tracked while you were sleeping, please follow these steps:

  1. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard.
  2. At the top of the screen click Log.
  3. Click the Activities tab.
  4. Under Log Activities, type in Driving and enter the date, duration, and start time.
  5. Click Log. Your steps, floors, and calories burned will decrease for the time period you specified.

And now regarding your sleep, I'd like you to review the information below 'cause there are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi I've got the same issue in that my Versa has tracked 30,000 steps while I'm sleeping (when I wasn't wearing it). I had my fan on so that's probably why. I'm trying to delete the steps using the Driving activity but it's not working. I have tried restarting and shutting down. Any other ideas?

Hey @AmyBB, let me give you a warm welcome to the Community! Cat Happy This is correct, the fact that you left your Versa close to a fan, make it count a lot of extra steps because the watch recognize those vibrations as steps. Now, in order to delete them, should be enough by logging a driving activity, so let me ask you, did you sync after you logged that activity? After that, the steps that were "tracked" during the night should have disappeared.

Thanks for the message! Yes I have synced after logging the driving activity but the step total is still incorrect. The steps that show up on the graph for the day don't add up to the daily total either.

Have tried all of this and is still not working.  Still tons of steps while sleeping and wondering if this isn't the product for me.  Hate to return unless you have another suggestion
