Not getting accurate HR for hiking-Versa 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

From what I can gather the mode of exercise influences estimated heart rate.  Sitting around doing nothing my HR is ~55 bpm.  Select "weights" and then sit around doing nothing, my HR goes to 100-140.

My biggest frustration is with hiking or walking.  I live in the mountains and do quite a bit of vertical but it appears the hike/walk functions don't account for vertical changes.  So hiking at a 2-3 miles per hour pace might result in a 100 bpm measured heart rate even when I'm climbing 2,000 feet per hour and my real heart rate is 150+.  I've read moderator posts around making sure I'm wearing the fitbit accurately and I've tried everything but I think this needs a software update to account for elevation changes.  I find HR works well for running and cycling but it appears to be overridden to a lower level when hiking/walking at a slow pace.  I'm sure many of us would love to have fitbit fix this bug.

Thank you for replying but this doesn't help the issue.  I'm pretty confident this is a defect in the logic of the software (I've been a programmer for over 20 years).  Can this be added to a list of improvements/bug fixes to be considered by the software developers?

Hi!

I wanted to comment here because I share this frustration with you. I find other forms of exercise (weights, biking, runs etc.)

Fitbit only tracks my HR within zone 1 but there are several instances throughout my hikes where I’m near peak and definitely in cardio. These hikes include anywhere between 300m-1000m of elevation. I look at my heart rate throughout and it’s never over 126, which is simply incorrect. I’ve gone through the suggestions in appropriate wearing and I’ve tried everything but this simply is an issue with Fitbit Inspire 2 that I also encourage be looked into further.

Edit: I find other forms of exercise to be accurate (weights, biking, runs, etc)***
