Note 9 and Fitbit Versa

I am interested in updating my Fitbit to a Versa and also buying some for my family. We all have Note 9 phone's and I am wondering if the issues with compatibility of the two have been fixed? Will Versa work with Note 9?

Welcome to the forums!

Have you checked the phone compatible list?

https://www.fitbit.com/devices

If its not there then some things will not work coreectly

Hope to see you around!

I have had my Versa about 6 months now and my Note 9 for about 2 months.  Previous phone LG V30 had GPS and Music control issues.  As for the Note 9 the first few weeks it was very spotty then improved to essentially no issues at all.  Not sure if this was a software upgrade since the phone and the Versa had recent updates.  I have used Fitbit going back to the Fitbit One and like all the devices I have used sometimes the synch just stops then a bit later all is well.  Since this is not a mission critical thing in my life I'm ok with this - who knows if its Android or Fitbit or both.

Here is what I have been reading:

1) The Note 9 is not on the compatible list.  Some posts here say they don't get connected to the Fitbit App on the Note 9.  Aside from synch issues from time to time it works just fine for me - all the functions.

2) GPS lots of folks saying spotty connection to the phone.  In my case I walk my dogs every day for about 1.5 miles and have no issues connecting - though of course that is only one data point.  My other exercises at this time of year are at the gym and don't use GPS.

3) Music controls.  Never worked on the LG V30.  With the Note 9 I have to go through a bit of a "setup" each time.  Somewhere on this site I read this solution but don't remember where to give proper credit.

a. Start compatible music on the phone.  I almost exclusively use YT Music/Google Music.

b. On the Versa hold down the left button a few seconds.

c. The music screen should be visible.  If not there are actually three screens so just swipe to the right until you are there.

d. His the … menu and you will see a source choice.  Finger click the phone icon.

e. Click the left button once.  In theory you should see the music controls allowing for pause, play, skip, and volume up/down using the right buttons.  This works for BT (ear phones and my Visio sound bar) and phone speakers.

This does not always stick over time so you might have to go through this again.  BTW I love the Note 9 and I'm so happy to move on from the problematic LG V30!  Good luck!

Hi, I recent bought both the Note 9 and Versa. I can say that I had more trouble with my Versa and S6 Edge then I have had with the Note 9. Whatever the problems were in the past I have not experienced any. I am not disappointed and I don't think you will be either!

Hey guys, @lifesavermck@djjstew and @jawoehl, I hope you are doin' great! This phone model, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, is on the compatible devices list, so you should have no inconveniences to set up, sync, get notifications and use the connected GPS with it and your Versa. If you are experimenting issues with those features, please take a look at these help articles:

- Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

- Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

- Why isn't GPS working on my Fitbit device?

- My Fitbit isn't receiving notifications from my phone

Let me know how it goes!

Fitbit does NOT support email and phone call notifications for/from the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

I confirmed this with Fitbit chat 2019-05-02.  Because I want that feature for my Fitbit/Note 9.

I will be returning my Fitbit since there is no announced plan to add this feature.

Other than this, I really like my Versa and have had it for a month.
