Notification service is not running on a P30 PRO

Hi,

So I have, what i assume, is a common issue with the fitbit app. I am getting the "notification service is not running" error a lot.  Like every charge i have to sort this and some time randomly in between.

Now i can get this to work again by clearing the cache from the fitbit app and logging in again.  But this i really don't want to be doing this all the time.  Is there any fix for this on its way?  I am running a Versa 2 and a Huawei p30 Pro.

Thanks

Jo

I have a Huawei P30 as well, I get the same error message to restart the phone but it doesn't help. I have been told by the Fitbit support staff that they have been working on this issue for over a year now.  Good luck to us suckers that own these watches. The Versa2 supposed to be a smart watch, mine is stupid.

@JoMaclachlan same issue here with my week old Versa 2, will post my workaround here for anyone who needs it, but essentially it's the same as yours with clearing the data etc over and over every day, and the same as @Michael2020  my smart watch is the stupidest thing I have ever spent money on

To restore notifications, do this (sounds a lot but takes only a few minutes) these steps are for Android, sorry I don't know about others..

Turn off Bluetooth

Turn off location

In settings, click apps, Fitbit, storage, then clear cache and clear data

Go to the Fitbit app and open it

When prompted, turn on location from within the app, and tick the offered permission boxes

When prompted turn on Bluetooth from within the app and give permission

When prompted to allow permissions for contacts etc, agree

It will probably sync now

Press notifications (under the general heading) and check you have WhatsApp or SMS, your email account etc then click on App Notifications, they will all have become unticked so select all again

Sorted!

If you use Alexa from your Fitbit, you'll need to go into that again from the main Fitbit app page and give permission again

If you would like to be aware the next time your Fitbit loses connection I suggest downloading a free clock face with a temperature option since when you lose connection the temperature reads --, and at least you know you won't be getting any notifications anytime soon..
