Parkrun distance measured short on Versa

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I run a 5k parkrun every Saturday morning. My Versa measures the GPS distance at on 4.43k, that's 10% out.

If I measure the distance with Google maps, I get 5k.

When I use strava I get 5k.

Is there a fix for fitbit versa?

@Parkruner Welcome to the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for the details mentioned. I would like you to make sure that your Versa 2 is always showing the GPS signal because this might be the reason why it's showing less distance. Learn more about it by checking this article: How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?

Could you confirm that you are always seeing a GPS signal on your watch while you're running? Which phone are you using?

Keep me posted.

thanks for the reply silvia.

Yes, I have alway connected gps running on android mobile and can see connection all of my 5k run. The mapping feature displays the correct route.

When I have stride length set at automatic, fitbit sets my stride length to 117.6cm after my run. So this only gives me 4.4K on a 5K run. (10% short)

I turned auto stride length off, manually set stride length 129.6cm (117.6cm +10%). Fitbit now measures my 5k park run accurately.

Is there a way to get the auto feature to work ?

@Parkruner Thanks for getting back. I appreciate the detailed information shared.

I would like you to confirm you've done this procedure to measure your stride length. After you track a run with GPS, your stride length updates automatically. For best results, run at a comfortable pace for 10 minutes or more.

  1. Go to a place where you're sure of the distance, such as a track.
  2. Count your steps as you walk or run, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
  3. Divide the distance traveled (in yards or meters) by the number of steps you took to determine your stride length. If needed, convert your stride length into inches or centimeters.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.
